• Our scooper picked up a copy of “Fletch” on DVD…Apparently, in the”Bonus Materials” section, they have a Chevy Chase filmography. On the first couple of pages, they mention “Dirty Work” and “Vegas Vacation” and stuff, then they list all of his movies from most recent to his first. The second one from the top lists “Fletch 3 (1998)”. The first one is “Dirty Work (1998)”. Considering that Fletch 3 doesn’t even have a script yet, it’s kinda strange! Guess they expected Kevin to be finished with it much sooner…

• We’ve been sitting on this story for a while now, basically because we were too lazy to scan the pic in, but Big Helium Dog gets a nice plug in the latest Scud: Tales From The Vending Machine (issue 4, drawn by Clerks artists Jim Mahfood). We’re big Scud fans, so this was cool to see. This book’s a spinoff with a different Scud every week, drawn by a different artist. The original Scud is a fantastic comic as well.

Also, every book has an opening with suggested voice talents for the characters in the book. Mahfood chose Jason Lee as the voice for “D.J. Mind Trip”. Cool stuff…

• Correction: A lot of you have been asking about a new Van Damme movie coming out with an actress in it named Carmen Lee. We’ve learned that this is indeed a DIFFERENT Carmen Lee than Jason’s wife, she’s a Hong Kong-born actress.
• Rumor has it that Kevin will appear in the next Playboy (clothed, of course) along with a very unclothed Cindy Crawford. We knew you were buying the issue already, but now you’ve got even MORE reason. Apparently, a lot of pics from the office/comic shop are in the current layout.
• A fan has written a treatment for a sequel to Dogma, believe it or not, and placed it online for you to check out. Read it HERE. Remember this script has NOTHING to do withKevin Smith or View Askew, and probably contains Dogma spoilers! Read at your own risk.
• Annnnnd finally today: A class at San Jose State University called “RTVF 170A – Act & Dir Camera” has made Kevin’s“Two Screenplays” book required reading! Kinda neat…Sign us up!

• Sounds as if Chris Rock‘s still just a bit too outta control for morning TV…We don’t see the worry, but hey, that’s network execs for ya:

Chris Rock’s “ass” got him booted from Today Wednesday.

The comic actor’s prolific use of the word “ass” (as in, he’d like to “whup” Sexgate special prosecutor Kenneth Starr’s, you know, “ass”) during a liveQ&A with morning news co-anchor Matt Lauer prompted producers to edit outthe segment for the West Coast rebroadcast, the New York Post reports.

“We are big fans of Chris and admire his work,” NBC said, in a statement.”He has been a guest before on the show, but his language today wasinappropriate for morning television, especially for the many children whoare off from school and watching at that hour.”

By the Post’s count, Rock’s “inappropriate” language also included a spare”crap” and “scumbag.”

If only he’d stuck to “semen-stained dress” or “oral sex” or any othernumber of now-common TV topics in the Sexgate era…

This was not a point lost on the biting HBO talk host and Lethal Weapon IV costar.

“I find it odd that the people at the Today Show felt that talk of staineddresses and violent crimes was more suitable for morning television than mejoking about whupping Ken Starr,” Rock told the Post.

The four-minute Rock interview aired raw and uncut in the Eastern andCentral time zones, according to the newspaper. The network reportedreceiving 96 complaint calls as a result.

Viewers in the Mountain and Western time zones–who watch Today on tapedelay–weren’t so troubled.

In place of the ex-Saturday Night Live funnyman, they got a canned reportabout a cowboy rodeo college.

Rock’s hit HBO show’s third season premiered on HBO last night.

• Already getting good buzz from her “Meet Joe Black” performace, Claire Forlani has signed onto another project. Here’s the story:

HOLLYWOOD (Variety) – Claire Forlani has joined a large ensemble cast in “Mystery Men”, a picture about an unlikely group of superheroes.

She plays Monica, a diner waitress who falls in love with Mr. Furious, one of the superheroes who has not yet been cast. Hank Azaria, William H. Macy, Janeane Garofalo, Paul Reubens, Geoffrey Rush and Lena Olin also star in the Universal film.

In November, Forlani will be onscreen opposite Brad Pitt and Anthony Hopkins in Universal‘s “Meet Joe Black”. Her other credits include the indie feature “The Last Time I Committed Suicide”, “Basquiat” and “The Rock”.
