  • The latest Movieline discusses a new Ben Affleck (in a supporting role) flick called “The Boiler Room”. Here’s what our scooper had to say about the article:
It is about all this younger (i.e. under 30) guys who have their own brokerage firm. The head of the firm is Ben. He is supposed to be kind of like Gordon Gekko Jr. It follows the experiences of an underground gambler who they recruit to be a trader. The catch is that all these guys in the movie are entirely aware of movies like Wall Street and Glengarry Glen Ross and effectively living them out. They constantly quote them, etc. You should read the article, the role seems cool for Ben if he slicks back his hair all like Michael Douglas and becomes a snake. I don’t know how true it is obviously, but it is supposedly filled with a bunch of Mamet-esque dialog and the like. Sounds like an interesting concept, and totally plausible, anyway. We’ll keep our eyes on this one.
