First Look: Conversations In World Cinema…

  • Thanks to the Sundance Channel, we have received an early screening copy of Conversations In World Cinema featuring Kevin Smith which airs later this month! The special is quite good, though TOO short! 30 minutes just isn’t enough when we’re accustomed to 4 hour marathon Kev appearances at colleges and stuff (in fact, you can tell they had to edit things down to fit in the half hour, as we’re sure he talked longer). At any rate they make the most of their time for sure. The first 5-10 minutes of the show focus on Kev’s history (he even talks a bit about his trip up to NYC to see ‘Slacker’, his inspirational film), then the remainder of the program is a subdued one on one, focusing on the film aspect and not a lot of the usual silly questions you hear over and over again. It’s very refreshing. The audience (obviously composed of film students of some sort) asked a couple questions at the end relating to directing and camera movement.

“Join Richard Pena of the Film Society of Lincoln Center in a witty conversation with the always provocative filmmaker as her discusses God, comic books and New Jersey. May 11 9:00 PM, 4:00 AM; 15 12:30 PM, 8:00 PM, 5:35 AM; 21 5:30 PM, 1:00 AM; 23 11:05 AM, 10:30 PM; 26 1:35 PM, 10:30 PM; 31 10:00 AM.”

Thanks to the Sundance Channel for providing us with an early look at this special, the most recent television interview with Kevin to date.
