- The HISTORY ASKEW website gets a very nice mention from Inside.Com today:
Director Kevin Smith may use the Net better than any other filmmaker, and his rabid fan-base is right there with him all the way. Smith’s next project under his View Askew production banner, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (which he’s detailing on the Web in fascinating weekly columns on the Psycomic site), is the culmination of a series of intertwining characters and storylines from past Smith films including Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy and Dogma. In an effort to keep track of the comings and goings of all these varied characters, the HistoryAskew site features a timeline of overlapping events from all the movies, including Jay and Silent Bob cameos in Scream 3 and the events of the Clerks animated TV series. Now, even newcomers to Smith’s universe will be able to keep track of a world in which ”almost every character in each film has slept with or at least gone down on a character from another View Askew production.”
- In case ya didn’t catch Malcolm Ingram‘s “Tail Lights Fade” (which features a Jay Mewes cameo at the end), it’s ariring on Cinemax lately. It aired last night and we missed the scoop on that, but check around, it’s bound to air again.
- Finally today, a fun scoop from an England newspaper you just gotta read:
Steven Speilberg’s moster-hit remains hugely popular among cinema audiences and the movie’s exhibit at the Universal Studios Theme Park is easily the top attraction at the Florida tourist trap.
No specific news on what Jaws 5’s story will be about, but it looks like it will be fairly unrelated to the first four movies and have more than one Great White chewing up the surf.
Speilberg is incredibly unlikely to be involved but Jaws fan and Clerks and Mallrats writer/director Kevin Smith is in talks to provide a rough draft of the script.
A Kevin Smith Jaws film? Our only question is…Would IT contain references to View Askew films as a homage? Heh heh. We’ll see ya next time.
