- Variety revealed a TON of new cast memebers for “Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back†today, and wow, it sounds like they’ve been inking deals left and right out there! Practically half of the cast of “American Pie†is on board now from the look of it, though we imagine they’re mostly in it for cameos, along with Asner and Kmetko from E! (which seems to suggest that Jay & Bob or SOMEONE in the flick is going to appear on a mock E! News Daily episode). Judd Nelson has also been confirmed (we knew about Carlin since Kev announced it at Vulgarthon). Anyway, here’s the actual piece from Variety:

Shannon Elizabeth and Will Ferrell are set to topline Kevin Smith’s next film, “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back,†to be produced and distribbed by Dimension Films.
In addition to scripting and directing, Smith will have a small role in the pic as Silent Bob. The plot remains shrouded in secrecy, though producers referred to the film as the final installment of the director’s so-called New Jersey chronicles, which includes “Clerks,†“Mallrats†and “Chasing Amy.â€
“In the tradition of ‘A Mad, Mad World,’ we’ve worked with Kevin to put together an ensemble of the finest comedic actors,†Dimension co-chair Bob Weinstein said. “This will be one of the biggest event comedies of the summer.â€
Smith’s partner Scott Mosier is producing “Jay and Silent Bob,†which Dimension exec VP of production Jon Gordon will oversee.
Also new to the project are Judd Nelson, George Carlin, Seann William Scott (â€American Pieâ€), Jason Biggs (â€Boys and Girlsâ€), Tracy Morgan (â€Saturday Night Liveâ€) and Steve Kmetko and Jules Asner. They join Smith vets Jason Lee and Jason Mewes, Brian O’Halloran and Jeff Anderson.
In related news, the good folks at Comics Continuum have also revealed this artwork (a photo of Jay) from the upcoming Bluntman & Chronic limited series from Image comics. This is the first we’ve seen from the books, which will tie in to the new film (so expect a pre-August 10 release if everything sticks to schedule).
