- Our old friend Zeebadaboodee checks in with a few tidbits on that book “My First Movie†that we mentioned in recent NewsBites:
1) The interview with Kevin is 30 pages long, and includes a ton of text.
2) The interview starts with how Kevin ever became interested making a movie, and head all the way through the process of writing, making, distributing and the aftermath of the film.
3) In some ways the interview seems to span as much (if not more) than the passages in “Spike, Mike, Slackers and Dykesâ€. While some of the stories are the same, most of them have been expanded upon a little bit. For example, the story of how Kevin got the student discount on film in NYC by signing up for a one-day class at the local community college and getting a school ID. It’s been awhile since I’ve read Pierson’s book, but I don’t recall ever hearing that the name of the class was “Roasting Suckling Pig†(or something like that).
Overall my impression was that anyone who’s ever asked Kevin about “how it all began,†or anyone (like myself) who is interested in the minutia of his story, would love the interview.
- The latest issue of the UK magazine Total Film (issue #52) has a feature on “Hollywood’s 10 Most wanted†on which Eliza Dushku is mentioned as ‘The new Angelina Jolie’. The piece also cites her jewel thief role in Jat & Silent Bob Strike Back.
- Jason Lee’s former profession was yesterday’s daily pop quiz on EW.com. A moderate 64% answered correctly that Lee used to be, of course, a professional skateboarder before making his big splash in Mallrats.
- Jake Busey is the latest star to join the Harold Ramis production “The First $20 Million is Always the Hardest,†which also stars Adam Garcia, Rosario Dawson and Askew regular ETHAN SUPLEE.
