  • Wow, that was quite a surprise! What we’d expected to be just a short snippet or mention of Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back turned into some major footage and information airing on Entertainment Tonight. The piece centered around Mark Hamill, but quickly became about the movie itself. In the clip, Hamill mentions quite a few things about the film, including the Star Wars references that are clearly tied to it. TONS of new footage from the theatrical trailer was included, which involved the lightsaber battle, Carrie Fisher’s role, and new footage of Jay, Bob, & the girls. We warn you…It looks like this new trailer has a LOT of spoiler type footage. However, it also does seem like a lot of the footage that we saw filmed (see our On Location report) is in the trailer as well, so we might be able to debut some of our photographs from the set now that the cat’s out of the bag. We’ll see.

Until then, we’ve got the entire ET clip online at Scooping The Monkey for ya. You can ALSO view clips and the full story at ET’s website HERE. This is highly recommended, as they’ve included the entire interview with Hamill (again, watch out for those spoilers!). Enjoy!

  • Well there hasn’t been one of these for a while, so it seemed like a suitable time to check in. Summer’s flying by, with July here already. Wow. So what did everyone think of A.I.? It certainly was an interesting film, though personally that last 20 minutes could have been missing and the film would have been as good, probably better. Scary Movie 2 looks like it’ll pull in some big numbers this week, and with that Jay & Bob trailer attached, we’re expecting some heavy traffic to start arriving here at the site in the coming weeks. All in all, it hasn’t been too exciting of a summer film-wise so far. Jay & Bob have the potential to be the big surprise hit!

Been watching any TV lately? New South Park episodes are airing and, while the show does seem to be getting a bit tired, it’s still pushing the envelope and remains amusing from week to week. I’m also sorry to say that Fear Factor has me sucked in. We’re becoming more like the Japanese with our TV here year after year. Soon it’ll look like that Simpsons episode. “Knife goes in, guts come out.” Remember that? Classic. Anyway, Big Brother kicks off a new season on the 5th of July on CBS. Let’s hope they get that right this time. Looks like the fall is STACKED with even more reality TV. Hopefully somewhere along the way they’ll come up with some decent new series. Hey, at least Buffy is still on. As far as other genre series, X-Files may as well be cancelled. Thank goodness HBO continues to roll out some great original programming to keep TV interesting.

Chances are this will be the last update until after the 4th, so have a safe, happy holiday if you’re celebrating here in the States tomorrow. There’s a few newsbites in addition to the story posted this morning on the trailer for you to check out, let’s take a look:

  • Look for sections of new interviews with Kevin Smith, Jason Lee, and Mark Hamill on this weekend’s edition of Starz Movie News, which airs on the Starz! movie channel. “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back” clips from the EPK will also be featured. Show times are as follows: Jul 6 – 7:30PM, Jul 7 – 5:00AM, Jul 10 – 5:45PM, & Jul 11 – 7:15AM.
  • In more TV news, The ET website is promoting an appearance by Mark Hamill regarding Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back on the show TONIGHT. We’re not sure if his character will finally be fully revealed visually, as it’s quite a sight to see, or if they’re keeping that under wraps. You’ll definitely want to tune in and see what Mark’s got to say tonight!
  • The trailer for Dogma (same that appeared on the SE) is on the new “Snatch” double DVD set, released today. See the movie, by the way, it’s quite entertaining, especially if you liked Guy Ritchie‘s first flick (“Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels”).
  • Get this, folks – Diamond Distributors are almost running out of the current printing of Green Arrow #1, which means that shortly it will go to a FOURTH printing! The issue is apparently selling TONS of copies, even well after the series is underway. Congrats to everyone involved with the book on its success!
  • Cinescape.com gives the Dogma SE DVD an A- rating. The reviewer doesn’t seem to be a fan, so hey, even better. You can read the review at their website.
  • “Chasing Kevin” will be playing at the Malverne Cinema 4 in Malverne, NY (Long Island Area) as part of the Long Island International Film Expo. The film will be shown Sunday, July 15. For more info, surf HERE. Right now, this is the only place to see the entire film.

CONFIRMED: J&SBSB Theatrical Trailer Attached To Scary Movie 2!

  • Well, folks, the BIG news has been confirmed. The official theatrical trailer for “Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back” is completed, and attached to each and every copy of “Scary Movie 2”, which as you know gets a HUGE release across the country tomorrow. Dimension has done a great thing here, as Scary Movie is likely to do quite well this week, and, with the trailer attached, Jay & Bob will be on the minds of millions, especially those who have yet to see one of Kevin’s films. Here’s an early report which, while it doesn’t go blow-by-blow, does contain a minor spoiler or two, so if you’re planning to NOT watch the trailer, skip ahead, otherwise…
Well, I saw a sneak preview of “Scary Movie 2” this Monday (July 2nd) and the only trailer they showed was for none other than “Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back”. First off, there were HUGE cheers from the cool people (ie, View Askew fans) when familiar faces showed up, but there were also a LOT of clips that aren’t in Kev’s internet trailers. And I guess the voice-over helps. Though the one thing that annoyed me was the fact that the voice-over says something about “The real Jay & Silent Bob”……I mean, I know that in the context of the movie, these guys are having a movie made based on characters that are based on them, and I know its being anal, but did the voice-over HAVE to say “real”…LoL. Anyways, they also showed clips from the Carrie Fisher cameo…and I can’t wait to see Jay “go by the book” on Carrie’s nun. Anyways, the trailer got some big laughs.

With the preview attached to the BEGINNING of all Scary Movie prints, it should screen just before the film itself starts, so even if you’re stuck in the popcorn line, you should see it. Enjoy, and spread the word! We’ll have an official online copy of the trailer for you as soon as it’s available. Dimension likely wants this to be a theaters-only event first, though, and we can’t blame ‘em.
