You’ll also find a TON of new exlcusivephotos from the set, mostly of the Bluntcave itself, though the camera’ssmall zoom lens and the funky lighting made it tough for stuff to come outthat well. What you will see in the photos are the first shots of theinfamous Bluntmobile, and a lot of small nuances of the Bluntcave that justwon’t show up on film at all. Again, the new material DOES contiain somespoilers, so read at your own risk. Enjoy the new pics and info!

Jim’s currently working with Kevin and co. to put the finishing touches on the score of Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back. Surf over to the site for some background info on Jim, to listen to some of his work, and more. Jim helped the gang throw some really cool music into the Jay & Silent Bob Internet trailers as well. NEW Kevin Interview At AICN!

July 16th @ 11:29 pm | No Comments » | Scooped by Mysterio

  • There was just so many of you that mailed in on this, a scooper list was impossible to assemble, but Mysterio did e-mail in this morning and said to expect part one (of three) of his interview with Kevin Smith, where he answers questions from the fans and reveals a ton of stuff about Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back and everything that came before. Here’s a sample of it for ya:
You know CLERKS is about the relationships between guys. MALLRATS is more about the relationships between men and women. CHASING AMY is about that bizarre relationship between two best friends and a girl. DOGMA is about the relationship between man and God. They’re kind of unseen relationship. And JAY AND SILENT BOB STRIKE BACK is about the relationship of two idiots; you know, two innocents or corrupt innocents who are kind profane innocents in a world that doesn’t seem to quite understand them and also about the relationship between the audience and Hollywood. If you want to go for something deep on JAY AND SILENT BOB STRIKE BACK, don’t bring your “hip boots” ‘cause there’s not much depth in there, but if you want to look deep for it and try and write a paper on it, it is kind of about the relationship between filmmaker and studio, between audience and studio, between audience and film. You know, because it’s about how we relate to movies. I mean the movie is kind of a big valentine to movies, but really it’s more of a big valentine to the people that supported our movies.

  • Looks like that release date push is being confirmed around the web…This story comes from Jim over at the Wizard World site:
‘JAY AND SILENT BOB’ ARRIVE EARLY
Miramax Dials Up Release Date

Jay and Silent Bob are arriving early.

Miramax has moved up the release date for “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back,” the new comedy written and directed by Kevin Smith. The new date for release is now Wednesday, August 22, two days earlier than its original date.

The conventional wisdom at Miramax is that the movie will be a big hit, and the studio wants word-of-mouth and buzz to build for two days going into the higher-dollar-volume weekend.

“Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back” went through only two test screenings. In its first screening, the film registered a composite score on the reply cards of 86, the highest ever for one of Smith’s films, and one of the highest marks in Miramax history. Test screenings are usually done so that filmmakers can edit and tweak their films before general release. Given the performance of “JSBSB,” Miramax is confident in adjusting its release date.

  • A small interview with Paul Dini appears over at comicscontinuum.com, regarding his script for the live-action Batman Beyond movie. They give JASBSB a brief mention:
While a Dini-written movie might be a ways off, he is appearing in Kevin Smith’s upcoming Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. He plays a guy working on a film set and has a couple of lines.

“Then Chris Rock yells at me,” Dini said. “It was a lot of fun be in, and Kevin was really cool to work with.”

The whole thing can be checked out HERE.

  • The Jay & Silent Bob Strikes Back official trailer has made its first television appearance on the E! Network‘s Coming Attractions program. The show airs fairly often, and the trailer’s running first off, so check your listings. Coming Attractions showcases trailers for all the big upcoming flicks.
  • Apparently reactions to J&SBSB footage are still being recorded, this time in the Chicago area. Sounds like they’re still trying to decide how to market the film, perhaps? The survery also asked about the actors Chris Rock, Ben Affleck, Jason Lee, and Jason Mewes and about the interest of seeing a film with those actors (along with 25 other questions). The movie is currently set for a huge 2,500 screen release on August 22nd.
  • And finally today, a press release confirms the August 7th soundtrack release:
Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back’ Soundtrack Set For Universal Release on August 7

Includes New Songs by Stroke 9, Marcy Playground, Bloodhound Gang, Plus Music

From Run DMC, Bon Jovi, Bob Schneider, Morris Day & The Time and More

NEW YORK, July 16 /PRNewswire/ — On August 7, Universal will release the Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back soundtrack. The movie Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back is a Kevin Smith film (Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy) and will open in theaters on August 22 from Dimension Films.

The soundtrack features a 13-song, eclectic mix of new music as well as some classics. Brand new tracks from Stroke 9, Marcy Playground, Bloodhound Gang and Afroman are sure highlights. Stroke 9’s “Kick Some Ass,” the first single from Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back soundtrack, was the #1 most added song at Alternative radio in its first week, according to leading industry publication Radio & Records. Other artists include Bon Jovi, PJ Harvey, Morris Day & The Time, Run DMC and Bob Schneider.

Also included on the CD are hilarious sound bites from the film as well as an enhanced portion containing trailers for all of Kevin Smith’s films, an outtake from the current film and an exclusive performance from Jay (Jason Mewes).

Look for the new video for “Kick Some Ass” featuring Stroke 9 with Jay & Silent Bob, and directed by Gregory Dark (Linkin Park, Crazytown).

The release goes on to list the full track listing, which we already know (and you can find here in the archives).

Commentary…

July 15th @ 1:12 pm | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • Howdy folks, hope you’re all having a good week. Got some of those Stroke 9 “Kick Some Ass” promotional CDs to give away…Yep, you can’t get these in the stores anywhere, and they’ve got Jay & Silent Bob all over them. How can ya get one, you ask? Well, starting this week, we’ll be choosing the most intelligent/on topic/meaningful talkback post for that week and awarding that user with a CD. Simple as that. So, keep that in mind when you’re posting! This should help to foster some better discussions there and keep it interesting. Good luck!

By the way, if anyone works or has connections with someone at US Air, Marriott hotels, or anything in the Orlando area, drop me a line…I’ll be flying there for a week this September.

And now, on with the news!

Release Date Of J&SBSB Bumped Up To August 22nd???

July 15th @ 1:11 pm | No Comments » | Scooped by Janie, Joshua, Schulz, Jim Scampoli & Walrus

  • The Upcoming Movies website broke this potentially BIG scoop, and says they’ve now confirmed it with Exhibitors Relations, so it does indeed seem that Miramax has bumped Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back up two days, from August 24th to August 22nd, a Wednesday! We realize this was confusing as we didn’t have the announcement sooner, but we had not received information from Miramax, Dimension, or anyone on this, still haven’t actually, but feel it’s best to run this story now before it gets too confusing. Keep in mind nothing official has still come into this website, but the Upcoming Movies site has always proved reliable, so we’ll hope this one’s true. Stay tuned for more solid info on this as we can confirm it.

Greg also tells us that, according to his website, Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back is the third most anticipated this summer, behind Jusassic Park III and Planet of the Apes. Jurassic’s really not that good, either. So, after this month’s releases, it looks like J&SBSB is set to run away with a lot of business, at least according to those polled.
