• On this morning’s Howard Stern radio program, “Vulgar” was discussed for a little while. Howard’s producer Gary had passed on a copy of the film to watch, who told him that it was a Kevin Smith production that started out as a good comedy and then takes a terrible turn.

Howard’s response was that he enjoyed it up until the rape scene which disturbed him so much that he claims to have immediately thrown the tape in the trash (then again, Howard says this about most tapes he watches).

Director Bryan Johnson called it a few minutes later to talk about the film a bit. Afterwards they continued to joke about sequels to it and what would be funny. The entire segment ran for about 8 minutes or so.

We’re regular listeners of the show, so we’ve got it all here for you in audio format. As we mentioned, Stern wasn’t exactly into the flick, but as Johnson indicates, it’s not for everyone! • It’s here! Kevin’s new supervillain, “Onomatopeia”, has made his comic debut in GREEN ARROW #13, now on shelves EVERYWHERE! In this review, The Fourth Rail gives the book a very good 8/10 rating. Pick up the book if you haven’t already, it’s a sure-fire collector’s item, and it even mentions our home base town of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania — Making it a must-have for sure!

• UK Askew reports that the Jay & Bob DVD extra stuff has been passed by censors there with no cuts, a good sign for a possible Region 2 release, perhaps?
• This guy has posted some animations he made using the new Bluntman & Chronic action figures.
• According to the Videoscan/Hollywood Reporter DVD Consumer Sales chart, for the week ending March 30, J&SBSB is at #14 (and it’s the 12th best-selling DVD of the year to date). Not bad at all!
• Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back is playing at Midnight at the Times Cinema (5906 W. Vliet St.) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on April 12th and 19th.
• Kevin gets a mention at the E! Online website today, a small blurb regarding his hosting of the upcoming Episode II Special for Sci Fi and a nice link to the viewaskew.com website.

• It’s here, folks! Week NINE of the seemingly endless supply of View Askew memorabilia has now been revealed at the Auctions Askew website. This week, a couple more signed posters hit the block, which would be at home in any collection, but a couple of very RARE collector’s items from J&SBSB have been made available — First of all, how’d you like to own Bluntman’s ACTUAL Bluntsaber from the movie? You can! The black bag used to hold the diamonds on screen is also up for grabs. These cool pieces come with certificates of authenticity, and will go to the highest bidder. Good luck to ya, and enjoy them if ya win ‘em.

And speaking of auctions, a few other non-sanctioned items out there you might be interested in — One of which USED to be a View Askew auction item, a signed Chasing Amy posters, as well as some J&SBSB promotional postcards. • The SplitScreen Film Festival happens this weekend in Kentucky — They’re showing over 50 movies from around the world, most of which are either U.S. or world premieres. All SplitScreen movies are free admission. Seating capacity is limited, seating not guaranteed, so arrive early!

There will be a special midnight screening of “Dogma” at the historic Kentucky Theatre on Main Street of downtown Lexington this Saturday, April 13. Tickets are $4.50 at the door.

Kevin will be speaking on Monday, April 15, the last day of the festival, 7 PM, at UK Memorial Coliseum. Tickets are on sale NOW through Ticketmaster. If you call 859-257-TICS, you can get a dirt cheap bundle price of $15 to see both Smith and John Singleton, who’s speaking this Friday night, 8 PM, at UK Memorial Hall.

FYI – Friday night, after John Singleton and right before the special midnight screening of “Boyz N the Hood” at the Kentucky Theatre, there’s going to be a huge party at the downtown Phoenix Park on the corner of Main and Limestone, complete with live jazz bands and “guerilla theatre” video projections on the sides of buildings.

• One of this week’s stories in the mock/humor newspaper “The Onion” is titled ‘37 Record-Store Clerks Feared Dead In Yo La Tengo Concert Disaster’. aving the words ‘37′ and ‘Clerks’ in the same headline may be a coincidence, but you never know.
• For those of you that missed out when they are in short supply, “Panel One” (which features a script from an early comic Kevin wrote for Oni Press) is now back in stock at Amazon.
• Denmark’s yearly “Night Film Festival”, taking place in the capital of Copenhagen from April 5th to the 14th, and in the second largest city of Aarhus from April 17th to 21th, is playing Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back as part of their “Main Program”, which consists of roughly 30 movies. Information on showtimes is available at www.natfilm.dk. Here’s a translation of the description they have of the film:

• “Drop Dead Roses” was screened in Phoenix recently, and one reader was in attendance with some nice things to say about the flick and Brian O’Halloran’s performance:

O’Halloran was also reportedly spotted at a concert in Philly a couple weeks ago, signing autographs for fans! He’s always a very generous guy with the fans. We’ll keep you posted, hopefully “Drop Dead Roses” gets picked up for a release so the rest of us can check it out.

• Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back DVD reviews are still trickling in here and there — The disc is reviewed in the May/June issue of Request magazine (see above). Fanboy Planet has also weighed in with their thoughts on the disc. As always, if you don’t own this one yet, get it — And check out our own review in the DVD area.
• We’ve been getting so much mail on this, and even though it’s a stretch we figure we’ll mention it to stop the scoops! Matt Damon and Casey Affleck are appearing in a play in the UK. Starting April 22nd, Viewaskew they actors will star in “This is Our Youth” in London’s West End. The play is written by Kenneth Lonergan, who wrote and directed the film “You Can Count on Me” last year. The play runs until June 15th at the Garrick Theater. Tickets are selling fast!

• On Wednesday, April 3rd, Loyola University in Chicago screened “A Better Place”, followed by a Q&A session with Vincent Pereira and Clerks casts members Brian O’Halloran and Jason Mewes. We’ve got some photos from that event above, click them for a better look.

• Chasing Amy is going to be playing at the Beartooth Theatre Pub in Anchorage AK monday night only. Showtimes are at 5:30, 8:00, and 10:20, and it is only $3. It’s playing as part of their “Classic Monday” lineup.
• Lots of folks must read the Sluggy Freelance web comic, as we received a lot of mail on this reference to Clerks in their Saturday edition.

• Hopefully you were all able to catch Kevin’s hilarious appearance on Leno last night, it was the funniest edition of “Roadside Attractions” yet! Kevin is really hitting his stride with these things, and last night’s antics with the alligators and the tic-tac-toe chicken were classic stuff. It’s always a cool moment seeing Kevin walk out on the stage to introduce the clips, as well. The Florida footage will be continued on Leno sometime next month.

Surprisingly, it’s been a rather busy week around here, though things are slowing down for the weekend. Expect things to start picking up again with Jersey Girl getting closer, the new comics, plans for the upcoming college appearances DVD, comic show appearances, and more.
