Toyfare Figure Photos & Details!

November 21st @ 7:44 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Gary Waite, Rick Welch, Denny House, Bobby

  • Here ya go, folks, photos of the cover and article inside the latest Toyfare magazine, which features a look at the upcoming Clerks cartoon figures. The first wave will include Dante, Randal, Jay and Silent Bob for $9.37 each They’re due to arrive in February, 2003. Believe it or not, Up to 75 figures from the Askewniverse are being considered for the line! All figures will be done in the style of the Clerks cartoon, even characters that never appeared there. It’s a fantastic idea. Think of it, the likes of Brodie, Loki, Missy, Sissy, Chrissy, and tons more immortalized forever in plastic! Now, the figures are jokingly referred to as “Inaction” figures because they don’t have any movable parts.

The next batch of figures is scheduled to be Brodie, Renee, Silent Bob and Jay — all from Mallrats. And yes, each one will be $9.37 as well. Every six months, they hope to debut a new group of four. And yes, Steve-Dave and Walt The Fanboy are being considered for a future set. Stay tuned for more — very exciting stuff!

Affleck Named People’s “Sexiest”…

  • Ben Affleck is this year’s “Sexist Man Alive”, according to People Magazine:
People Picks Ben Affleck as Sexiest

NEW YORK (AP) — Jennifer Lopez already thought so, and now People magazine agrees: Ben Affleck is this year’s “Sexiest Man Alive,” the magazine announced Wednesday.

The 30-year-old star of movies including “The Sum of All Fears” and “Pearl Harbor” has been everywhere lately, mostly because of his romance with Lopez.

After rampant speculation — and copious photos of them kissing in public — he and the singer-actress announced their engagement this month. They also co-star in the upcoming movies “Gigli” and “Jersey Girl.”

“I didn’t need People magazine to tell me he’s the sexiest man alive,” Lopez said in the issue, which comes out Friday. “The difference between me and People magazine is that he’ll still be the sexiest man alive in my eyes when he’s 100 years old.”

Affleck is the 16th man to receive the magazine’s honor. Last year it was James Bond star Pierce Brosnan, and previous winners include Tom Cruise, George Clooney and Brad Pitt.

Also included on the 2002 “sexiest” list are Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, gospel singer Kirk Franklin, “American Idol” judge Simon Cowell and chef Rocco DiSpirito.

Oh well, guess there’s always next year for these two webmasters…

  • Slow going around these parts, lately! Don’t worry, updates may be sporadic, but we’re still on the case, doing our best to gather up as much news for ya as there’s to be found. After a shooting schedule ends, there’s usually a lull as a lot of the View Askew crew need a much-deserved break. Rest assured, there’s still a lot of great stuff on the way, and during downtime, we’ll be cleaning up things here at the site and making it a better place to visit. The cold winter months should provide a decent amount of clean-up opportunity, so watch for some new stuff at the site in the coming months. In the meantime, we’ve got an update for ya today!

  • A small View Askew nod appears on Moby’s Tour Diary update at his official website for 11/16/2002: “but that would be bad karma. and other board members would probably pull a ‘jay and silent bob strike back’ on whomever stole the award”.
  • Daredevil one sheets (theatrical movie posters) are showing up in theatres now — You should be able to snag one from an online poster place as well, for around $15. The posters are selling fast, from what we hear, so if you’re looking for one, buy soon!

Will Jersey Girl Get Pushed Back?

November 14th @ 10:20 pm | No Comments » | Scooped by Rob Smith

  • According to JoBlo.com, Revolution Studios have moved the release of a ton of their flicks around, due to some big competition at the box office this summer. The Affleck/Lopez flick “Gigli” has now been bumped back to August 1st, which might also mean a bump back for “Jersey Girl”, just because we don’t think Miramax will want to release another flick with the pair so soon in the Fall. Of course, that’s all just speculation at this point. We’ll keep ya posted.

  • We’ve got some nice new pics from the recent Kevin appearace in New York City! They’re taken in different styles, the photographers intention (including the blurry one, to give the feeling of movement and chaos as the crowd hit Kevin up for autographs). So, enjoy, click above to see them in their full glory.
  • If you haven’t picked up Daredevil/Bullseye: The Target issue #1 yet (and if not, shame on you!), check out some more info on the book and some of its beautiful artwork at Newsarama.

  • TV Guide Online announces that the short-lived (but enjoyable, sad to see it go) Affleck-produced “Push, Nevada” have announced their big million dollar winner:
SO HE’S THE ONE WHO WAS WATCHING: Despite its cancellation, ABC’s mystery yarn Push, Nevada has awarded the $1,045,000 prize to 24-year-old Mark Nakamoto of West New York, N.J. After watching Push’s “Final Clue” on Oct. 28’s Monday Night Football, Nakamoto beat out 10,000 other callers to the show’s hotline and solved the puzzle first. The last episode of the low-rated Push – co-created by Ben Affleck – aired Oct. 24.
  • For those of you out there who are fans of the PC Game “Grand Theft Auto 3”, we’ve posted a few new modifications for the game over at Files Askew. With them, you can add Silent Bob and Quick Stop/RST. Enjoy, but use at your own risk.
