- This is sort of intriguing…We haven’t heard any official word of Spidey/Black Cat being on hold, but a new six-issue series called “Trouble”, coming soon, features artwork from Terry & Rachel Dodson, whom as you know were working on the Spidey book with Kev. We’ll let you know what we find out.
- CountingDown.com has a 4-minute interview with Jason Lee promoting his new movie, “Dreamcatcher.” Lee also makes some comments about “Fletch Won” during the piece. The film took in around 15 and a half million this week. Reviews have been pretty harsh on the film, but we found it to be fun in a silly sorta way.
- TV Guide Online’s got a new trivia game about prime time cartoons that asks this as its final question: Who was the evil villain in the cartoon version of Clerks? Take the quiz HERE.
- This IGN FilmForce article discusses the possibility of Chris Rock and Will Ferrell co-starring in a movie…but oddly enough, it doesn’t mention that they’ve ALREADY appeared together in J&SBSB.
- We’re not sure we even understand this one, but “Clerks” was mentioned in the UK Gamecube magazine NGC. It’s in a list of “Non-lethal weapons for the GC version of ‘Hitman 2′”, which is a joke list. It is described in the list (#8) as “A riotous low-budget comedy in which undermotivated convenience store workers play hockey and talk about Star Wars.” Okay.
- This one might be a bit old, but this site suggested alternate casting for “The Lord of the Rings”, and put Mewes in the role of Legolas, complete with a photo. Even Kevin’s suggested for Gimli. Obviously some fans there.
- Yet another web comic nod for Jay & Silent Bob, this time in one called “Combustible Orange”. Check it out HERE.
- And finally today, the Clerks animated series gets another nod, but only one that fans of the show will pick up on — Check out the final frame of “Lethal Does” for the funny.

New Green Arrow Hardcover On The Way!
- Comic Book Resources brings us this very cool info on a new Green Arrow hardcover, covering the rest of Kevin’s run, coming this June from DC:
In his first story arc on the new GREEN ARROW series (collected in GREEN ARROW: QUIVER), fan-favorite writer/director Kevin Smith (Clerks, Dogma, Jersey Girl) resurrected the legendary DC hero to huge critical and popular success. He follows it up here with GREEN ARROW: THE SOUNDS OF VIOLENCE – a harrowing 128-page hardcover featuring a strange new villain stalking the Emerald Archer.
Stylishly rendered by artists Phil Hester & Ande Parks, THE SOUNDS OF VIOLENCE puts Oliver Queen and his closest loved ones directly in the madman’s bullseye. Plus, the relationship between Ollie and his son/successor Connor Hawke is explored, while Mia – the young girl whom Green Arrow saved – flirts with becoming a new “Speedy.” Also, will Ollie rekindle his romance with Dinah Lance, a.k.a. the Black Canary? And what happens when former JLA rivals Green Arrow and Hawkman reunite?
This volume collects GREEN ARROW #11-15, including the original painted covers by Matt Wagner, and features an introduction by Hester and a special sketchbook section showcasing his and Parks’s dynamic art.
GREEN ARROW: THE SOUNDS OF VIOLENCE is a 128-page hardcover arriving incomic-book stores June 25 with a cover price of $19.95 U.S.
Yep, this one’s a must-have! Don’t forget to look for the coolest superhero ever, the short-lived “Buckeye”, from our own Harrisburg, PA!

- So, maybe now that Brett Ratner’s off the list to direct Superman, perhaps they’ll bring Kevin on board? Hey, if they’re considering him to write Daredevil 2, why not dust off his ‘ol Supes script and bring him back in? Warners, are ya listening?

Commentary…
- Howdy folks! We’ve reached what we like to call a “lull” of sorts around here. After a surprisingly busy past couple of weeks, it was only a matter of time that the news dried up on us for a little while. We don’t expect this one to last long, but rest assured we’re still here and keeping an eye on things, there just hasn’t been a heckuva lot to chat with you fine folks about lately. That’s cool, though, we took the time and did some housecleaning on the site during the downtime.
Had the chance to check out a sneak preview of Lee in “Dreamcatcher” — The flick is surprisingly good, definitely feels like a King book, and does get a bit rushed at times (the ending especially) but should be a lot of fun to see with a full crowd in the cinema this coming weekend. Recommended.
Anyway thanks for stopping in today, we’ve got just a few newsbites for this update, but we didn’t wanna go more than 2 days without checking in, so heeeere ya go. Oh, and Happy St. Patty’s day, folks, we tried turning the page green but it just looked awful, so we spared you the goofiness this year. Enjoy this normal, non-green update though:

- With things being as slow as they are, you may wanna surf over to the View Askew WWWBoard and skim some posts. Kevin’s been spending a lot of time there doing the Q&A thing, so it’s a great time to get that burning question you’ve got to the man himsef, as well as scan over his always amusing replies.
- Enter to win an official Dreamcatcher poster at this Jason Lee page. The contest closes on March 28th.
- Wanna know who’s involved with the next Project Greenlight film? Yet again, they’re putting together a rather impressive little cast:
NEW YORK–Miramax Films has cast “The Battle of Shaker Heights”–the second installment of its Project Greenlight filmmaking contest–with Kathleen Quinlan, Shia LaBeouf, Elden Henson, Amy Smart, William Sadler, Shiri Appleby and Anson Mount. “Heights,” in production, was penned by Erica Beeney and is being helmed by Kyle Rankin and Efram Potelle. - That Daredevil 2 rumor regarding Kevin’s involvement still seems to be making the rounds, this time coming up over at Comics Continuum:
“He wrote Guardian Devil, that storyline in the comics. I want him to adapt it himself if we do that for sequel,” Johnson said. “The question is whether or not that’s going to be the sequel.”
- There’s no doubt about it…Puppets are ALWAYS fun and entertaining. This online movie, done with puppets and called “Chasing Arm-y”, is a Kevin Smith inspired dialogue between 2 puppets. Don’t look for any specific references, though, the creator just saw “The Flying Car” and was inspired to write a dialogue style similar to that. But ya gotta love those puppets.
- WZPL radio in Indianapolis will have an interview with Jason Lee on Monday afternoon, 3/17. Kelly McKay, their afternoon drive DJis scheduled to interview the man who is Brodie (and plays Beaver in “Dreamcatcher) at 3:15 PM Indiana time. - In the Onion’s interview with Gus Van Sant from last week’s issue, he mentions Clerks:

- In the latest issue of Fangoria, #221 to be exact, there’s a bit of Jason Lee “Dreamcatcher” stuff. There’s a small pic of him fighting one of the movie’s creatures, as well as one of him watching animals pass by outside the cabin. He’s got a few quotes in the piece as well. Watch for scans soon.
- In the Empire Online Movie Quote Quiz, a Mallrats quote appears in the hardcore section.
- Kevin gets a slight mention in a DVDFile article from X-Men DVD producer Rob Meyer Burnett:
Now, you have people like Kevin Smith and Quentin Tarantino, who put themselves in their own movies in major roles. And they also make themselves accessible to the public. They allow themselves to be known, which I do think rather cool.
- Jay & Bob are neck-in-neck in the “Who’d You Rather” contest (edition #16) over at Liquid Generation.
- At a recent screening of the new Pauly Shore flick “You’ll Never Wwiez In This Town Again”, Jay Mewes’ cameo got the loudest reaction from the crowd of them all. In the film, Mewes plays the announcer at a Pauly look-a-like contest.
IMPORTANT: Minnesota Correction!
We apologize for the mix-up. Our scooper had it wrong regarding the University of Minnesota show being free. Kevin’s appearance is definitely NOT free, although it is cheap – only $10. What is free, however, is Vincent Pereria’s appearance on March 24th. Tickets for both appearances can be found at the Coffman Memorial Union information desk on the first floor.
Also, in preparation for Kevin’s arrival, the University is offering free screenings of Clerks and Mallrats at CMU Theater on Tuesday. The show times for Clerks are at 9am, 1pm, and 5pm, and the show times for Mallrats are at 11am, and 3pm.
Check out as much as you can, you can’t go wrong with any of this stuff. We’ve seen Vincent’s film and heard him speak many times, and it’s always very informative and entertaining as well. Again, sorry for the mixed signals there, it did seem a little too good to be true, didn’t it?
