- Ming was kind enough to post these exclusive first look snapshots of the Steve-Dave and Walt figures in their packaging. Man, these guys look fantastic. You might just want to buy two sets of these guys, one to take out and put on display, and another set to keep intact. Notice that all five remaining Mallrats figures are shown on the back as part of the 2003 wave, with the set due in OCTOBER! So there ya have it. Better clear some room off your desk for more of these things.
Remember, this limited run is only guaranteed to be available in San Diego. Once the supply runs out, that’s the end of Steve-Dave and Walt (not literally, mind you, but FIGUREatively). Pun very, very much intended. Thanks. We’ll be here all week. Two shows nightly.

- Back on May 28th, we reported that a contestant on the UPN reality show “America’s Next Top Model” was a big View Askew fan and quoted the films all the time. Well, guess who WON THE COMPETITION? Congrats to Adrianne Curry, our favorite contestant. The previously linked E! Online story has a mention of her love of all things Askew, and the Chicago Sun-Times also had this in an article about her:
Ya see that? It pays to be a View Askew fan these days. We love our peeps.
- Today’s most popular submission: A new game by Capcom that is due for release on the Nintendo Gamecube next year, “Killer 7”, deals with a man with multiple personalities (7 to be exact, hence the game title). According to Gamespot.com, the 7 characters all have the same last name, Smith. And one of the first names? Kevin. We’re doubt there’s any relation. The article reports that the game is only 30% completed as far as coding goes, so maybe it’s not too late to throw in an easter egg that makes the dude look like everyone’s favorite director? We’ll see
- Mallrats babe Claire Forlani returns as Maxim’s “Girlfriend of the Day” today. ‘Rats scores a mention:
Alright, hey, at least she said we looked cool. And teen-aged. Love you too, Claire.
- “Matt & Ben”, the off-broadway play performed by two women that spoofs Damon & Affleck, re-opens on July 28th.
- The Mac news site MacSlash is currently running a Kevin Smith related Poll: “What is your favorite Kevin Smith DVD?”. Glad to see there’s some fans over there in the Mac world, as we all know how big of a fan Kev is of the Mac.
- The latest edition of the Aquarian (a local Jersey rock magazine) has a feature that focuses on the Stash. If anyone’s got the article scanned or keyed in, send it on.
- And finally today, on the light side of things…We’re not sure this story from the UK Sun is truly legit, but we think Brodie would have found it fascinating. Until next time, brave readers. We’ll see ya.

- A group called “All Girl Summer Fun Band” have written and perform a song entitled “Jason Lee” all about…you guessed it…Jason Lee. The track is on their album but also available for free download at their website. Read the lyrics HERE. It’s an strangely catchy tune. Listen for yourself and you too may find yourself going “Dum dum dum dum…dum-da-dum”.
- According to Universal, a Mallrats special edition DVD will be released in the Netherlands this November. No details on specs yet, but chances are it’ll be similar or same to the currently available R1 version of the disc.

Kevin: The Blog Is Back!
- Kevin recently spent some time over this holiday weekend to update the entires in his online blog, “Silent Bob Speaks”. If you’ve been away a while, or lost your place, you’ll want to resume with the entry dated June 6, 2005. Not all days have been spoken for just yet, but there’s quite a few tidbits of news there, mostly surrounding Kevin’s experiences filming “Catch and Release” in Vancouver. At presstime, the 13th of June thru the 25th are unaccounted for.
We scanned the entries for front-page newstype stuff , and caught just this so far: Kevin had a recent conversation with Jon Gordon regarding “Fletch Won”, so it seems that project is still on the slate. The schedule is not confirmed at this time, but we’re assuming Fletch may be the followup pic to Clerks 2.
Get your diary freak on at www.silentbobspeaks.com. Kevin promises that drama is on the way!
Producer Sues Mewes…
- We received a ton of mail on this one, and as many folks are certainly concerned about how Mewes is doing lately we wanted to keep you all informed. The producers of documentary “Rock Bottom”, which we announced Jay’s involvement with months ago, are suing him, as it appears that he no longer wishes to allow them to film his life. The New York Post has the story:
Mewes agreed to let the HBO filmmakers tape everything related to his addiction – including him shooting up.
Now Craig Veytia, who’s producing “Rock Bottom,” is suing Mewes for pulling out, according to Court TV’s thesmokinggun.com.
And HBO has decided to pass on the project, a network spokeswoman told The Post yesterday.
Mewes, 28, inked a deal with Veytia in mid-March for “Rock Bottom,” which would chronicle Mewes’ heroin addiction and his struggle to get clean. He is currently in rehab.
Veytia’s suit, filed June 20, claims Mewes has tried “to hinder and/or prevent” the documentary.
Martin Arbus, an attorney who’s representing Mewes, said “it’s a possibility” that his client will try to put the kibosh on the documentary once he’s out of rehab.
“Jason has not seen what is on this film . . . and until he sees what they’ve done, no final decision will be made,” he said.
“I’ve requested that any discussion or resolution of this issue await Jason’s release from the facility he’s in so he can better deal with this issue.
“Obviously, they’ve chosen not to wait, which is unfortunate,” said Arbus.
HBO’s decision to drop the film seems to have played a big role in the dispute.
“This was held out to [Mewes] to be an HBO documentary, when in fact [Veytia] doesn’t have approval from HBO to do it,” said Arbus.
Veytia’s attorney did not return a call seeking comment.
Mewes, 28, shot to fame as the fast-talking, pot-smoking drug dealer featured in buddy Kevin Smith’s movies “Clerks,” “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back,” “Mallrats,” Chasing Amy” and “Dogma.”
He pleaded guilty last April to six counts of violating his probation for a 1999 heroin conviction.
At the time, Smith told The Post that he thought the idea of cameras documenting Mewes’ struggle to get clean and sober was “exploitative.”
Two weeks ago, Mewes transferred from one drug treatment facility in New Jersey to another – saying members of the first center were treating him “adversely” because of his celebrity status.
We’ve certainly got no legal qualifications here, but we gotta say that his attempts to remove himself from the project are certainly understandable and, in our opinion, the right choice. However, it’s up for a judge to decide this one, though we hope that it falls in Mewes’ favor. With all the guy’s been through over the past couple of years, we’re just hoping that he gets his life straightened out, and back on track. Best of luck to you, Jay.
