- The Online Rocket, Slippery Rock University’s college newspaper, ran an article
written by students who took a trek to Red Bank. Alas, it’s one of those silly sites you need to register for,
though we’d like to point out using the BugMeNot website for situations like this works
quite well (once someone puts a generic login/pw out there). - Visit the front page of 97.1 FM Talk and click the “Leo And Kevin” link to view pics taken at
Kevin’s recent appearance on air. A copy of the full broadcast is on its way to the News Askew offices, so we hope to
have that for you by the end of the week.

Radio Alice: Listen To The Final Day!
- We went through the final two days of Kevin’s broadcasts, and haven’t found much that’s newsworthy that we didn’t already report previously. Kevin dropped the major bombs on the first day, which you can find below. A few minor things we learned…
Vulgarthon: Kevin’s staying away from mentioning guests, however, again told us to “connect the dots”, which we still assume means that Affleck, Lee, and Adams (or at least 2 of the 3) will be in attendance for the Chasing Amy 10th Anniversary Q&A to be filmed for the DVD.
All three days of Alice feeds are available right here, in MP3 format. So listen away or toss them on your trusty iPod or player of choice.
Kevin LIVE on BBC Radio Next Week!
- On Wednesday, March 9th, Kevin will be a guest on Phill Jupitus’ radio show. It can be found on
BBC 6 Music after the filming of his Q&A show in London. Want to listen? You can do it LIVE from anywhere on the
planet by going HERE and surfing up Phill’s page.
With the time difference, we realize this may be tricky, so they’ll also have the show available to listen to ON DEMAND
for a full week following the broadcast. If this radio thing keeps up, we might think Kevin’s starting a new career
here…
First Word: Mewes In “Independent Movie”…
- A couple of months ago, we broke a scoop of a film from Chris Gore titled “My Big Fat Independent
Movie”. The film is a spoof of the indie genre. At the time, the post mimicked Clerks so we figured that there would
be some Askew type gags in the flick. Sadly, early word has this not being the case, as a screening was just held.
However, a familiar voice from VA does play a part in the fun. Here’s the report:
Well anyways as the voice of an answering machine, is none other than Jason Mewes. A nice surprise in a pretty good film. But I was surprised there wasn’t any reference to anything else View Askew.
There was a post Q&A after the screening, and I asked about why no “Clerks” ? Basically, they couldn’t fit all they wanted to put in. One of the things left on the cutting room floor was the diner scene from “Chasing Amy.” The film was Written by Chris Gore and Directed by Philip Zlotorynski. Later.
Perhaps we’ll see form Clerks stuff in the eventual deleted scenes section of the film’s DVD. We’ll keep you posted.

- A show featuring Kevin being interviewed at the west coast Stash will air in LA on KCAL TV this
Wednesday, March 9th at 6:30 p.m. The program is KCAL’s “9 on the Town.” You can find KCAL broadcasting on channel
9, or check your cable/satellite provider. We’ll likely soon have a copy of this for you to see online since it’s only
airing locally in that area. - Kevin made an appearance on 97.1 FM’s FILM FREAK show on Saturday night. The show is a movie-themed
program, much different than the stuff he’d been doing for Alice all week. We’re getting in a copy of the show as we
missed getting word to you on this, so watch News Askew for your chance to listen to the program this week. - MTV has also picked up the
story regaring that possible Fletch Won casting. Laker Jim’s Fletch Won site has also of
course picked up on this and is covering the story. - And last, but certainly not least, God Herself, Alanis Morissette, will commemorate the 10th anniversary of her debut
album “Jagged Little Pill” by releasing a newly recorded acoustic version
on June 13. Count us in! See ya next time, and thanks for coming by!

- VULGARTHON: “Oh, What A Lovely Teaparty” is 4.5 (yes, that’s FOUR AND A HALF) hours long!!! We’re

Girl! If this is something closer to the test screening we saw a year before the film arrived, we know fans will
truly enjoy seeing this stuff. Again, worth your ticket price!!! - Kevin will be receving the Independent Spirit Award from Empire Magazine when he goes to the UK next

Kevin Does Radio! Listen HERE!
- As you may know, Kevin’s doing his first official co-hosting gig this week, for the morning show on Alice 97.3 in San Francisco. Kevin’s been posting about the gig HERE. So plug your headphones into your PC’s, click below, and listen to the shows…It’ll help get you through the workday.
They’ve got a Kevin-cam up at the site, so you can actually watch AND listen (details below) if you’re at a PC. Keep in mind, the show’s times and info below are WEST COAST (so do the math).
We’re currently going through the first 2 days of shows to gather up any interesting news hints and tidbits that have been dropped along the way (in addition to the Vulgarthon pimping and general wackiness). Check back for all that good stuff soon.

- The Futon Critic reports that Brian Lynch (whose “Big Helium Dog” we’ll screen at Vulgarthon later
this month) has gotten his interesting animated comedy greenlit for a pilot:
Congrats Brian! We’re looking forward to hearing more on this one.
- Seems the Zach Braff/Fletch Won news was noticed by a few outlets: Both Contact Music and UGO ran blurbs on the rumor this week.
- That’s it for now — Stop back again soon for summaries of Kevin’s radio gigs this week, and, as it
draws closer, more reasons why you’re gonna kick yourself if you miss Vulgarthon West! Less than a month to go…
Clerks 2 To Be FUNDED & GREENLIT?
- Kevin revealed a few new things of interest today, surrounding upcoming projects.
Let’s start with the BIG news of the day. Yes, it seems CLERKS 2 will be greenlit any DAY now! This is quite exciting,
as we didn’t expect to hear this officially for quite some time, but it seems Kevin and co. have cut a special deal,
making this THE first (we believe) flick to be funded out of the new Bob/Harvey company (though we’re just guessing
here). Here’s Kevin:
– Looks like our “Clerks 2” deal is about to close, so we may be getting cash-flowed as early as next week. While all fees and back-end deals are normally pre-negotiated in our overall deal, this flick was an exception – based on the low, low budget, and the fact that Scott and I opted against receiving our contractual salaries and instead took a new back-end deal that rewards us if the movie performs well (if it doesn’t, we did the movie, essentially, for nearly-free). Same with Jeff, Brian, and Mewes – while we’re all taking home some cash up front, it’s not nearly what they could’ve commanded to do the sequel to a proven flick. So, like Scott and I, they’re all taking the risk, and sharing equally in any back-end payday.
Yes – I realize how very gay “back-end payday” sounds. That’s why I was smiling when I wrote it.
Kevin went on to confirm Clerks 2 WILL go theatrical, though this one looks to be a small, targeted release, which we
really dig the idea of:
I guess we’ll find out closer to release.
This goes theatrical before anything else.
I was over-the-moon about what happened with “Diary of a Mad, Black Woman” this weekend. There’s a flick that had a quiet grass roots campaign, that didn’t rely on heavy network ads, and shocked the fuck out of everybody by doing $21million. That’s my model for “Clerks 2”: I’ll be pimping this “C2” goodness in all the right corners of film geekdom for the next eight to twelve months, so that when it’s time to market the flick, the lion’s share of our work will alredy be done.
I mean, at our budget, if we can open as well as “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back” did, we’d be sitting oh-so pretty. If we could hit that thirty million dollar gross that flick had? Fucking yowza!
In other news today, Kevin confirmed that Columbia/Tristar might release the Evening 2 DVD around the same time Universal releases the “Mallrats X” DVD. Coolness. It’s just nice to see both projects are still on track.
