We’ve got MP3 of the entire broadcast for you, commercial free, straight ahead. Kevin was joined on the evening program with Askewers Brian Lynch, Jason Mewes and on-air guy Matt Stout. Here’s what he had to say about his experience hosting the program as the front man this time:

Thanks, all, for listening in. We had a haphazard start, but I think by the second hour, we were in a good place with the whole affair.

Last night, I discovered that I don’t like being the front-man of a radio show. I liked my three days on Alice because it was Sarah’s show, and she got to steer it, while I simply followed her lead and got to chime in with the funny. Last night, I found myself in the Sarah role and Brian was me. Good for Bri, not so good for the Sarah-proxy. Riding shotgun, I’ve discovered, is way easier – because all you have to do is tag-up on the leader. Go back and listen to the Alice stuff; that’s all I did for three days. And that’s a lot more fun for me.

Mind you, this is not me taking anything away from Brian or Mewes, who were great and did what they were supposed to do. But I’ve learned that I’d rather be a guest or second banana. It’s really not that different than the Q&A’s: in that situation, the audience is in charge, and I’m just tagging up on what they say, in the form of story-telling.

If I were to do this in the future, I’d wanna be paired up with someone like Sarah – who’d be in charge of running the show. In radio, I think I’d rather just be a sidekick.

Not saying no to radio; just saying what I’d rather do in radio.

In any event, we won’t be doing it again ’til at least after “Catch & Release.”

And here’s a fan/listener’s take on the show:

After hearing about Kev hosting an LA radio show, I decided to make an impromtu 9pm trip to LA, and by the time I got there, was listening to Kevin, Brian Lynch, Jason Mewes, and Edgar Wright shoot-the-shit for a few hours. Now the first hour was kinda slow, not much talk from Mewes or Bry, and Edgar wasn’t there yet. But after that hour, it was a flat-out riot. Most of the show seemed to be dedicated to Star Wars, with a lot of talk about Kev’s review. At one point, he started naming off people who blasted him on the Ain’t it Cool boards and proceeded to rip them apart. Also a caller called in asking Kev if he was in fact involved with the new Star Wars TV project, and Kevin said this, “I’m not saying if I’m involved or not, all I’m saying is that I’d love to be apart of it.” After that, they started taking calls, asking people there their show should be called. One of the memorable ones were: Not that Bad (the one they seemed to like the most), News Askew, Jersey Grill, The Smith Mewes Lynch Review, and Yes, We’re Open. Then, after talking to callers for a while, they touched a bit upon a possible comic-book sequel to Shaun of the Dead, which would be called From Dusk to Shaun. And finally, talked a bit about Mewes’ two years or sobriety. All-in-all, a great listen, and hopefully it’ll become a regular show.

We realize that only a select few of you were in earshot of the program on-air, so we’ve got it all for your listening enjoyment right here. If you’re one of our many workday surfers, pop in the ‘ol headphones and enjoy while you waste your Monday away…
