Mewes At Colorado State – Summary…

  • And it sounds like Kev’s not the only one who can wow a crowd – Jason Mewes was also on the appearance circuit last night, with a Dogma screening and a Q&A session. Here’s one fan’s report, which reveals that Jay will be appearing in JERSEY GIRL…It also sounds like the commentary for the Jay & Bob DVD is coming up soon, a good sign. Here’s that scooper’s report:
Just got back from the Mewes event at Colorado State University. Gotta’ say, he was great. The crowd was very uneducated by View Askew standards, but Mewes was worth the ticket price. We were backstage, and he sat down on a couch with my girlfriend and myself for the first 30 minutes of Dogma (before he was wisked away to do promos and shit). Here’s everything I got:

He says Pot luck (high times movie) is good; he’s in about 4 scenes. R.S.V.P. (or Sticks and Stones) he is very pleased with. He said it’s a darker movie, and something more like he would like to try more of in future. He hasn’t seen it, and has only seen a couple dailies. You’ll never wieze in this town again (Pauly Shore), he said his part is small, but good. He also said Pauly is still real fucking funny, and can still pull in the bitches.

JERSEY GIRL, nothing new. He’s going back to read the script when he does the commentary for J&SBSB. He said, again, that Kevin wrote him a part…..but not as JAY. Also, he doesn’t know about the roster for J&SBSB commentary, but he is pretty sure that the edition coming out in Febuary will be the final one (no 2 year wait like Dogma, he said).

He also said that Jason Lee just got a divorce. He said he was surprised, but he ran into wife Carmen a while back and she told him personally (not sure if you knew that–I didn’t). He answered about 30 minutes of stupid questions. Most were drug orientated, NONE of those did he answer. Also, he went off a little bit (very tastefully) on some dude that said he sold out on the MTV commercial. He responded with, “what’s selling out? I don’t understand. $30,000 for two days work is all I know.” CLASSIC. He tried to call Kevin on stage, but couldn’t get reception on his phone in the building.

Overall, great deal. He was very personable, and a great guy to talk with. One more thing….fuck stars with egos. I’ve met other dudes, and this guy is for real. Not only did he entertain my questions for half an hour, but he was engaging in response. A true give and take meeting. Plus, when he first came into the room everyone clammered all over him-introducing themselves. As he made his way over to where we were sitting HE actually introduced HIMSELF TO ME! As if I was their to see someone else.
