  • Wow, sure are busy times around these parts, huh? With the big press push starting to kick in real soon, it’s only gonna get busier! We’ll be doing our best to keep on top of all the big press, including the interviews, articles, and appearances. As always, Scooping The Monkey should be a daily stop for you, as when this stuff starts kicking into high gear, we’ll be running some material over there exclusively. As you’ll see below, we’ve added more multimedia to the site as well, and while we’re not sure if it’s going to be the official site of the film, it’s definitely got the biggest collection of sound, video, pics, and stories about the movie. You won’t find more stuff anywhere. Check it out.

How about that Planet of the Apes opening, huh? 64 million in 3 days! Wow. Now those are some majorly impressive numbers. We’re not sure what Dimension is planning for J&SBSB’s opening, but we’re betting that even half of that would be a big win for the film in it’s opening days. The audiences are certainly there, and hitting theaters in droves! Perhaps because it’s been a fairly lackluster summer? The numbers that Rush Hour 2 and American Pie 2 pull in over the next couple of weeks will also be quite interesting to watch. Let’s hope the press machine keeps truckin’ along.

Continuing our coverage of the film, we’re very pleased to announce that we’ll be attending the J&SBSB premiere in Los Angeles on August 15th! We’ll have a full report on everything that goes out out there, exclusively right here at News Askew. By the way, if anyone’s got any suggestions on methods of transporation to take from LAX to Beverly Hills, drop me a line. It looks like it’s about a half an hour ride, and I’m shuddering to think of what the cab fare might be! It would just be nice to know what to expect. It just wasn’t worth the hassle of renting a car for only 2 days. It’s a damn shame that The Price Is Right isn’t taping that day, though, it would have been the perfect place to spend the afternoon before the big show! Thanks to Kevin for flying us out for the big day, it’s gonna be a great time! We’ll have our exclusive first-hand coverage of the event here and over at STM, of course. 16 days til the premiere, and just 23 more days until the film’s released.
