April Fool’s Joke (Yesterday’s Update) Explained!

April 2nd @ 2:48 pm | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • Alright folks, in case you didn’t read the talkbacks, it’s time to let everyone off the hook. First of all, yes, yesterday’s update was an intentional mistake, our annual April Fool’s update. Every year we try to do something a little different, whether it be fake stories, a missing site, or a completely DIFFERENT site. This year, we thought we’d scramble it up a little bit. It was actually quite a simple puzzle, actually. Each letter was one higher than it should have been (A became B, B became C, and so on. If you’re a regular update reader you may have noticed that the top scoop, usually from Brad & Chris, was from “Csbe & Disjt”). First clue. Second, if you even began to deconstruct the update, or tried the very first link in the top story, it would have taken you to THIS page, which contained a decoder for the entire update. Just select option 25, A becomes Z, and it’ll decode the update for ya. We left all the options in there to give you some room to play, in case you hadn’t figured out the code.

So, if you like, go ahead and check out yesterday’s update by decoding it, or just read it pre-decoded by clicking here. Some folks got the joke right away, some never got the joke, some (and we’re sorry) decoded it all, letter by letter. For those of you that dug it, thanks for all the comments. Hopefully you had fun with it. Happy April Fools Day, and we’ll see ya next year if we can come up with another one.

Thanks also to Tom Worth and DaltreyX for letting us know about Empire Online’s mention of yesterday’s joke in their story on Internet jokes today. You can read that story HERE. Thanks for the mention, Empire!
