- Well folks, the big news that Kev’s been hinting at in the last few of his Psycomic columns has been revealed! Yep, the lead actress to play opposite Jay Mewes is going to be…SHANNON ELIZABETH (she of “American Pie” and “Scary Movie” fame). Yessiree. Kevin hinted at this and then confirmed it at the Webboard (see below for that and more). In the meantime, the scoop itself was broken (not by us, dammit) by the Hollywood Reporter just a short while ago. Check it out:
Shannon Elizabeth is in negotiations to join the cast of Dimension Films’ “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back” for writer-director-actor Kevin Smith. The project is scheduled to begin shooting in January in Los Angeles for a targeted Aug. 10 release. Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, who starred in Smith’s “Dogma,” are also in talks to appear in the project. Jason Lee, Brian O’Halloran and Jeff Anderson star in “Strike Back,” which also will feature Smith and his sidekick, Jason Mewes, reprising their roles as uberslackers Silent Bob and Jay. “Strike Back” will serve as the fourth and final chapter in Smith’s New Jersey chronicles (”Clerks,” “Mallrats” and “Chasing Amy”). Dimension and Smith’s View Askew Prods. are keeping the plot and the budget under wraps.
