Silent Bob Coats: Now Available!!!

November 17th @ 7:30 pm | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • It’s been one of the most sought-after, asked about items in View Askew history, and now, after years of inquries, AbbyShot Clothiers, through the cooperation of View Askew, have made an exact replica of the famous Silent Bob trenchcoat available for purchase. Here’s their official announcement:

Snoogans, LunchBox… whatever you call him, Silent Bob is short on words and big on style. His trademark overcoat, previously unavailable, is NOW ready to order from AbbyShot!
Licensed by Kevin Smith himself, Silent Bob’s Coat is just like the coat used in Dogma, and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. Kevin loaned AbbyShot his original coat, so the design is 100% accurate!!
Made from Green & Black Melton Wool and lined with Black Kasha. The coat features an oversized lapel, welt pockets, an inside breast pocket and your very own Silent Bob Pin of your choice!
Available in sizes Medium, Large, X Large, and XX Large.

You read it right — AbbyShot had the original coat to work from, so this coat is a perfect replica. And just in time for the holidays, no less — The perfect gift for your favorite View Askew fan, or…yourself. It looks cool, and, not to mention, warm and toasty.
The current plan is for the Bob coat to be on display at WizardWorld texas (so you can see one in person), and will also be featured (worn by the host) for a day on the Space Channel program, Hypaspace. Please note, first of all, this is an AbbyShot item, not a Stash item, and thus must be ordered directly through the manufacturer. They will need measurements from you as the coat will come custom-tailored for an absolutely perfect fit. This coat is based directly on the item worn by Kevin in Dogma and J&SBSB.
Get tons more details, photos, and order your custom-tailored Silent Bob coat at tbe AbbyShot Clothiers site today! Stay warm for the holidays and be one of the only folks in the world to own the officially licensed Silent Bob trenchcoat.

Dogma Figures: A Closer Look…

July 23rd @ 9:29 pm | No Comments » | Scooped by Ming

  • Ming’s got a nice little gallery of photos up at the View Askew site that combines his work and some of figures.com to present a very detailed look at the upcoming Dogma Inaction Figures. No concrete release date is set for these, except we DO know that they won’t hit streets at least for a month or so after the Mallrats wave comes at us in October 2003. From what we’re seeing so far, the Dogma wave is our favorite yet, with some hilarious detail and memorable poses that true fans of the film can enjoy. We can’t wait to see what they’ve got in store for us next. How about a special edition Dixie-cup Brodie? Please?

The “Silent Bob” Dogma Trenchoat!

July 21st @ 8:47 pm | No Comments » | Scooped by Patrick Foran, James Morgan

  • After years of inquiry regarding that comfy coat that Silent Bob wears and loans to Rufus in “Dogma”, it looks like one clothing company has taken the matter into their own hands.

AbbyShot Clothiers Limited, who specialize in recreating custom coats from the film world, are in the process of gathering the fabrics necessary to mass-produce the coats. They’ve already got a spec version done, which you can see above, as well as more shots at their website.

AbbyShot uses top of the line fabric and custom builds each coat BY HAND, to your exact measurements. The ‘sample’ you see above is yet unfinished. The finished coat will have topstitching, smiley face button and other finishing items. The production sample coat (and hopefully the future production coats) is made with Tight dense-weave Wool which is suited for ‘hard-wearing’ outerwear garments. They aren’t prepared to offer this coat as product yet, as they still need a reliable fabric source and a better estimate of demand. That’s where you come in.

If you’d be interested in a coat, be sure to e-mail them and let them know, via this Question Form at their website. If demand is high, it should allow them to obtain fabric in the quantity they need to keep the price as low as possible. Right now, estimates have the coat under the $500 mark, which may seem a bit pricey to some of you, but considering the uniqueness and quality build of the coat, which should last a lifetime, it’s sure to interest some of you, perhaps for your 2003 Christmas wish lists.

We’ll keep you posted on the status of the coats, until then, feel free to check out this thread at their forum to learn more about the company and what they do.

First Look: Dogma Inaction Figures!

July 18th @ 8:17 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Ming

  • Wanna see something REALLY cool? A surprise display item at the currently-happening San Diego Comicon took us by surprise. Dogma inaction figures! Not all the figure models have yet been completed yet, but for those they’ve got cardboard cut-out models on display (don’t worry, they’re not going to be so inactive that they’re FLAT). Yes, soon we’ll all be owning Jay with Uzi, Human Loki, Bartelby with Wings, and, our personal favorite, the immense Golgothan. The cut outs include Silent Bob w/ hockey stick, Metatron, and, of course, God (because what would a set of Dogma inaction figs be without God?). A new shot of the soon to be released (this October) Mallrats action figures is also on display, which includes Renee, Willam, Brodie, Jay & Dork Knight. And don’t forget, San Diego is currently the ONLY place to get your exclusive Steve-Dave and Walt figures!

Click the shots above for a better look, and thanks to Ming and his snappy digital camera for getting us these exclusive images.

Steve-Dave & Walt Packaging: First Look!

July 10th @ 9:58 pm | No Comments » | Scooped by Ming

  • Ming was kind enough to post these exclusive first look snapshots of the Steve-Dave and Walt figures in their packaging. Man, these guys look fantastic. You might just want to buy two sets of these guys, one to take out and put on display, and another set to keep intact. Notice that all five remaining Mallrats figures are shown on the back as part of the 2003 wave, with the set due in OCTOBER! So there ya have it. Better clear some room off your desk for more of these things.
Remember, this limited run is only guaranteed to be available in San Diego. Once the supply runs out, that’s the end of Steve-Dave and Walt (not literally, mind you, but FIGUREatively). Pun very, very much intended. Thanks. We’ll be here all week. Two shows nightly.

Own Holden & Banky’s Table!

July 10th @ 9:58 pm | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • Here’s your chance to own a BIG piece of the Askewniverse: Banky & Holden’s table from “Chasing Amy”. The table is repeatedly seen holding Banky & Holden’s Sega. It was also featured in a key scene at the climax of the film. Both Matt Dickinson, the artist and View Askew Studios have authenticated the item as the original Kannex table from Chasing Amy. A certificate of authenticity signed by Kevin Smith will also be provided to the buyer of the table. The item will be available for the next 8 days or so, and bidding starts at $100. Congrats in advance to the lucky buyer, hopefully it will end up in a fan’s home and receive lots of TLC.
Bid on the item HERE at the frighteningly addictive eBay.

Exclusive Steve-Dave & Walt Figures!

June 24th @ 10:36 pm | No Comments » | Scooped by Ming

  • We are very pleased to announce that the EXLUSIVE View Askew figures available only at The San Diego Comicon (Next month, from July 17th through the 20th) will be the Steve-Dave and Walt designs you’ve been seeing from the upcoming Mallrats wave. But yes, this will be the ONLY way to get them! Alright, alright, we know what you’re thinking. Sure, you’re thinking we’ll have extras at the Stash after the show ends. And sure, that may or may not be true. But remember that San Diego is a HUGE con, so if these puppies sell out, don’t come crying to us! You’ve got a month to get to San Diego or find a pal out there to pick you up a set. We promise you they’ll sell fast (heck, maybe even Bry or Walt will sign ‘em for ya).
So if you needed ANOTHER reason to hit San Diego, that’s it for sure. Oh, and hey, we expect this means they WON’T be included in the first wave of Mallrats figures…Hmmm…Wonder what the final four chosen will turn out to be?

Announcing: View Askew Shot Glasses!!!

May 29th @ 11:38 pm | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • Being the home of the View Askew Drinking Games that we created and that started what was this site right around this time back in 1997, we’ve been given the honor of announcing a new item soon to be available at the Stash: View Askew shot glasses! That’s right, now you can play the drinking games with the official drinkware of News Askew. All 5 of Kevin’s films will eventually be available in shot glass form, but first up is “Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back”, which will be available for sale first at Wizard World in Philly THIS WEEKEND! Yep, before you can even buy ‘em at the Stash. So if you’re coming to Philly, make sure you stop at the View Askew booth, so you can be among the first to own one of these beauties. Watch for more promotions and tie-ins with the drinking games and the shot glasses soon.
