  • In a News Askew story from a while ago, we mentioned that only 1,000 Variant Jay & Silent Bob figures would be produced, with 500 going to comic book retailers attending the con expo and the other 500 going elsewhere. Well, according to AnotherUniverse.com’s Daily Buzz site, they will be sold at the Graphitti Designs booth at the Comic-Con:

“Jay and Silent Bob Variant Action Figures

Kevin Smith’s popular film characters, Jay and Silent Bob, burst on to the comics scene this summer with their own hit title, published by Oni Press. Now Graphitti Designs is bringing the fan-favorite hooligans to the action figure market, and the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund couldn’t be more grateful.

Graphitti Designs, Oni Press, and Smith’s View Askew have produced a “Semi-Politically Correct Variant Edition” of the Jay and Silent Bob action figure set for retailers attending Connections 98, the industry trade show that precedes Comic-Con International. Only 1000 of the variant sets have been produced, and the 500 notslated as retailer giveaways will be sold at the Graphitti booth once Comic-Con begins. $10 from each set—$5,000 in all—will go directly to the CBLDF.

According to Graphitti’s Bob Chapman, “This is our opportunity to give the public a chanceto get a very unique variant while donating to a very important organization—one that we hope we’ll never have to use.”

The Jay and Silent Bob figures, designed by Matt Wagner, stand 8″ high and are described as generously articulated. Each set includes loads of neat accessories plus Stoner Boner, the priaptically-enhanced canine of Oni’s comic book series.

Collectors will be interested to know that the Semi-Politically Correct Variant Editionincludes a special photo cover variant of the Jay and Silent Bob comic, in which each character is holding one of the action figures. This photo cover is also limited to only 1,000 copies. ”

Good luck getting a set, folks! Get in line early.
