Kevin Reports The Latest…

October 2nd @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Brad & Chris

  • Kevin stopped by the board early this morning to report what he’s been up to lately and to speak about few of the latest rumors…
I spent the better part of the last few days in NYC, taking care of business (in the parlance).

Yesterday, I taped an interview for A&E’s Biography, on… Matty Damon. I’m not sure when itairs, but they’re doing him, the irritating Drew Barrymore, and Cameron Diaz in one show(fourteen minutes each, as none of them have enough history to support a single episode). After that, I was up at DC Comics to talk Green Arrow for awhile, and then off to dinner with Rock and the newly 30 Janeane Garofolo.

Today, it was ‘Rats reunion day, as we recorded the commentary for the DVD. It was me, Scott,Ben, Vincent, Lee and Mewes, and we had a grand ol’ time. It’s some funny (and only slightlyinformative, to the folks who’ve spent a lot of time on this site) stuff, and you all haveVincent to thank for what seems like will be an incredibly jam-packed with extras-goodnessDVD (and believe me – the irony of such a spectacular, ‘Signature Edition’ package for such a lambasted cinematic abortion is not lost on the little-flick-that-couldn’t’s creator).Afterwards, Lee came down and watched ‘Dogma’ (which he loved), and expressed his desire to pop by the board tomorrow night.

In the early afternoon tomorrow, we’ll be taping the other video interviews at the Stash (me,Scott, Mewes, Vincent, and Lee), for any interested folks. And, again, this seems like it’s going to be a great DVD.

We’re two reels away from finishing the ‘Director’s Cut’ on ‘Dogma’. It’s now almost at thetarget length (2:45), which means we screen it for Miramax in two weeks. Next Thurs/Fri,Mosier and I head to L.A. to show the flick to the potential composer (and when we can revealwho it is, you’ll flip), before which I should have some news for the curious on where we’resound mixing, what’s in and what’s been cut, etc. (though, for the record, that one piece on ‘Ain’t It Cool News’ talking about the desert scenes, and the under-two-hour ultimatum was soout of the loop it was laughable. Believe me – I’d tell you guys about something as big asthat (because I’d be firing you all up for an old fashioned letter-writing campaign); for any’inside’ scoop, you need look no further than this board.

Here’s one last tidbit of inside info: that news about ‘Supes’ not being quite dead yet?Complete bullshit, I’m told. But there may be some interesting developments surrounding thatproject yet…

Lee on the board tonight would be cool…Definitely a rare treat. Hopefully they can make ithappen through their busy schedules. As for the composer, when it’s official, Kev’s right -You’re gonna love it. We can’t say who it’s gonna be though, we’ll leave that big news toKev himself.

From what we’ve seen, Dogma will DEFINITELY be well over 2 hours, as Kevin says. We suppose ifMiramax really digs it, the cut will remain at 2:45, most likely a bit less after some tweaks.Kevin indicated to us that the cut that goes to Cannes will most likely be the same cut thathits theatres October 99, so prepare yourselves for an epic flick, folks. With all theintermingled sublots and character development, it flies by though. Hell, we wish they’d keepit at the 3 hours it runs at now!

Finally, as for Supes – Hopefully this indicates that interest hasn’t totally died down for hisscript yet, though we forgot to ask him about this when we saw him last weekend…
