  • Yep, it’s up for another one. This time, “Chasing Amy” has been nominated for a fairlystrange sounding category: “Best Foreign Film in English Language” in the British IndependentFilm Awards! The whole thing’s sponsored by the Raindance Film Showcase, a cool festivalthat’s showing the allegedy excellent (though we’ve yet to see a frame of it) Six StringSamurai…Anyway, the awards take place in London, on October 29th at the Cafe Royal.
  • Apparently, Ben Affleck’s Armageddon figure is not selling all that well. We hear rumors that comic shop owners are trading in with the company to get more BruceWillis figures. Sad! Get out there, and demand more A.J. figues, dammit!
  • A scooper also sends up details of Nike coomercial #2, airing nationwide during footballgames on Sunday:
I was watching the WB Network (don’t ask why), and I saw another Nikecommerical with Mewes in it. It’s basicly the same thing as the bridgeone, only it’s on a basketball court. Mewes tells some b-ball player towear the shoes to be nicer to the ground. He also makes a joke about howyour “Your not dribbling, your passing! The ground passes it back toyou!”. Then at the end he says something about how he loves the ground, and gets down to kiss it, and says something like “HEY! Who put this gumhere?!”
  • Captain Comics, a syndicated column on comicbook collecting, reports (in the October 4th column):
“– Did I mention strange? Action figures this month include Spy vs. Spy andAlfred E. Neuman from Mad magazine and Jay & Silent Bob from Kevin Smithmovies like Chasing Amy, Mallrats and Clerks. Jay & Silent Bob, against allexpectations, have made a successful transition to a very funny comic bookat Oni Press. Go figure.”
  • In Comics 2 Film’s (http://www.comics2film.com)newest poll, they ask who should play Spider-man if they ever make the Spider-man movie. Twoof the options are View Askew-ers Matt Damon and Jason Lee. Go vote for your favorite!!
  • Rounding out the day, Ben’s Official Site is up at : http://www.affleck.com. It’s not finished, but you can view the front page. It looks like it’sgoing to be very well designed (from what little you can see that is…

Jay & Bob Sighting…

October 12th @ 12:00 am | No Comments » | Scooped by Thomas Holbrook

  • Here’s a weird one: Someone online has come up with the odd idea of combining South Park and Babylon 5. The site is http://www.infinicorp.com/babylonpark On one of their pages there is a big “Cast Photo” of all the characters on “Babylon Park”. And way in the back, for no apparent reason, are Jay and Silent Bob. Go figure. WEIRD. Anyway, check out the picture above and see for yourself!

  • An astute reader of AICN noticed this concept art For SUPERMAN LIVES…Let’s hear what they had to say (of course, click the thumbs for full views above):
Alrighty folks, Harry here with yet still more cool images of the future. The following was art that was created for SUPERMAN LIVES, the first image is an unknown, I’m not real sure what that is, but the second one is of Superman rescuing Lois from Braniac’s ship, something that I’ve heard is no longer in the film. Bummer. The outfit Supes is wearing is the ‘K’ armor outfit, in case you’re wondering. Enjoy…

Kevin Checks In…

  • You knew (and hoped) it was coming, and here it is! Kevin stopped in at the ‘ol WWWBoard to report all the latest developments in his life…Which turn out to amount to pretty much nothing, actually, but still prove amusing none the less:
That it was, last night, at Tramps in NYC. Rock, myself, and a few friends attended perhaps one of the best live shows I’ve ever seen in my life. It’d been ten years since I’d caught Run DMC at the Collesium, but you wouldn’t know it – they STILL know how to command an audience. Excellent, excellent stuff. If they’re going to be in your area soon, I highly recommend seeing them – even if you’re not a fan of rap.

The LA trip was fine, and I’ll be able to tell you more about it in the coming weeks.

Jennifer started working at Mtv today. We’re all very proud of her ’round these parts.

Short of that, the only other thing I can impart right about now is…

“Now deejay RUN’s my name!”
“Jam Master JAY is his!”
“He’s DMC…”
“It’s like THAT…”
“And that’s the way it IS!”

I wish it was last night all over again.

  • Hey folks…Welcome to, as far as I know, the first multi-state News Askew update…I’ll be in the Boston area for the next couple weeks, with Chris running things at home base. Thank goodness for modern technology! Anyway, I’ve had a long day and am REALLY tired, so let’s get this over with. By the way, thank goodness for HBO and big 27 inch TV’s in hotel rooms! First Mars Attacks, now The Devil’s Advocate…The best of the last year’s movies that no one else liked! Ahhh….
