• You may recall NA mentioning the possiblity of Jason Lee taking a role in Cameron Crowe‘s next film: Well, now it’s official. Yahoo News has reported that Lee will indeed play a PRINCIPLE part in the yet untitled project. Should be a good one! We’ll keep ya posted as we dig furtherinto the film (now that we know Lee’s on board…)
• Kevin Smith mentioned on…A GOSPEL Show? Yep, you heard right. Our scooper reports in that,on Easter eve, said program was discussing the gender of God and they said “Alanis Morisette is playing God in theupcoming film by Kevin Smith called Dogma“. Then they went on to quote Bible scripture citingproof that God is a man. Wow, what’s next?
• Another chance to see Clerks on the big screen! Anyone in the Flagstaff, Arizona area willbe happy to know that there will be a 7:00 pm showing of Clerks at Northern Arizona University‘sProchnow Auditorium, on Sunday, April the 11th.
• Finally today: We missed this in our countdowns, but want to remind you all that VincentPereira’s “A Better Place” is screening TONIGHT at Monmouth University. The show starts at 7 pm,and Vincent’s confident that non-students shouldn’t have a problem getting in to see the show.If you’re in the area, we’d highly recommend that you attend, and see this flick up on the bigscreen. Vincent normally does a very informative Q&A session after the show, as well. By theway, Vincent’s also got a couple of Flixtour dates that he’s filling in for, since the flick wasso successful on last year’s tour. We’ll have those official dates for you soon.

• Well, this April 20th marks the 2nd anniversary of the wide release of Chasing Amy here in the U.S. – The film actually made a very small debut on April the 4th, but didn’t get its national recognition until later in the month. To celebrate this occasion, Zeebadaboodee (whom you may remember put together the excellent News Askew Year-end Wrapup back in December) has been working feverishly to compile a ton of way cool info for a News Askew feature that will commemorate the occasion. That’s where YOU come in.

Zee’s looking for anyone who’s seen Amy, whether it be during it’s initial run, at home on video, or even at Vulgarthon, to write in with your thoughts on the film…The catch is, it’s gotta be about your “first time”. He’s looking to capture your thoughts and opinions on the flick as you walked in and out of the theater, stuff it made you think about, etc, etc…Use your imagination. Now, we can’t guarantee that your story will be used on the wrap-up, since we just have NO idea how many we’ll get, but hey, it’s worth a shot!

• Here’s an interesting piece…While all the rumblings about Dogma release trouble are happening Stateside, The Hollywood Reporter has announced that FilmFour has already nabbed up Dogma’s U.K. distribution rights! Read on:

What this press release DOES show us is that Dogma is indeed being released carrying the Miramax banner, which solidifies our argument that the studio does indeed tend to support the film here in the U.S. Looking good…
