• The AMC South Barrington theater in the northwest suburbs of Chicago will be showing Clerks on Friday and Saturday night at midnight (Aug 6 & 7). The theater is located at Interstate 90 & Barrington Road. The theater also plans to show Chasing Amy & Rats somewhere down the road. We’ll let ya know.
• A very thorough scooper found two more davorable reviews for the Clerks & Mallrats DVDs amidst the porn on an adult site! So he says, anyway…We’ll post the link, but we won’t go. We’d never view such filth. 😉
• Piper Perabo (White Boys, The Adventures of Rocky & Bullwinkle) will play the lead role in Coyote Ugly, a coming-of-age film about a young songwriter who comes to New York to pursue her dreams but winds up working in the Coyote Ugly bar. For those of you that forgot or didn’t know, Kev worked on the screenplay for this flick.
• A scooper checks in for those of you that are having trouble getting that Mallrats logo to disappear from the flick while watching it on the new DVD. This seems to be a player-specific setting though, so if you can’t seem to get it to go away, look for a similar setting on yours:

• Welp, the Catholic League’s now set up their very own DOGMA page! Thanks, guys! You can find them spewing all their hate towards Dogma and censorship right here.

We wonder if Kevin & the gang would now consider a similar-to-Blair-Witch release path for Dogma this October? Perhaps release it to 10 or so big cities (and a handful of screens) early in October, perhaps running some very quick teasers in theaters and on the tube that just showcase the amazing cast, without giving too much of the flick away? We think that if the already incredible buzz on the flick combines with a preview weekend like Blair, the press, along with the public, would carry Dogma into it’s wide release later in the month. We’d prefer it to the relatively quiet run that Amy had, anyway. Something to think about…

HAPPY 29^th, KEVIN!!!

• Just a small update for those of you wondering what happened yesterday…It was nothing more than downtime relating to our CURRENT server. We promised we’d warn you before we actually flip the switch on the new server, and we’re still going to do that. At present time, all files have been moved to the new box, we’re just now in the process of reconfiguring our poll and counter scripts and making the appropriate code changes (it’s more of a pain in the ass than you’d think). Anyway, as soon as this update is done, we’re going right back to work on it, and still hope to complete this move in the coming days. We still hope that, to you, the move will be transparent. We’ll soon know.

In the meantime, not too much going on today, aside from the man of honor’s big 29th birthday — So be sure and stop by his web board and wish him a happy one. Also, there WAS an update on Sunday, which appeared right before we went offline, so be sure and scroll back to check that out as well.

Also, you’ll see Kevin comment on this below, but we’d also like to express our amazement: The Blair Witch Project, a film which you may recall us crowing about quite a few months ago after seeing an early version, raked in an astouding 28 million bucks this weekend, an INCREDIBLE take for an indie flick, and certainly a milestone for indepdendent film in general (Blair Witch even managed to break the per-screen average take of The Phantom Menace in its opening weekend, setting a new record). We’d certainly like to also wish OUR congrats to all involved with the film on their amazing success. It’s a great flick, and we’re happy audiences are enjoying it as much as we did.
