Kevin’s Birthday Post…

  • We’d like to take a moment to wish Kevin a very happy 29th birthday, and many more!!! Glad we could be here to celebrate another one with ya. Here’s to many, many more!!! Here’s Kev’s post from VERY early this morning:

Things I’ve learned, now that I’m 29

I’ve learned that ‘The Blair Witch Project’ made close to thirty million this weekend. Wow. That’s beyond historic. That’s just astounding. Kudos to the Haxan guys.

Short of that, nothing new learned. We’re in LA (me, Jen, Harley, Scott and Mewes), finishing up the last two episodes in the initial order. The shows are really funny, and Brian, Jeff and Mewes couldn’t be funnier. The support players have been great too. It’s just a flat-out good show.

Saw the first set of storyboards on episode one (ours, not the Jar-Jar one). They look phenomenal. High praise to Chris Bailey and the rest of the animation team, who’ve done such a masterful job bringing this stuff to life.

I have no ‘Dogma’ news, despite that excellent piece in yesterday’s New York Times. That’s a bit frustrating, considering the movie’s done and ready to go. Time for a poster or a trailer or something, don’t you think?Or at least the announcement of who’s distributing it. Ah, what do I know. I just made the thing – that’s all.

The baby continues to grow and amaze. But honestly – I thought I was a fan of eating, shitting and sleeping. This kid’s vested interest in said sameleaves me in the dust.

Speaking of eating, I’m almost finished with week one of the new diet. So far, so good. Things got a little out of control there for awhile, but now I’m taking steps to reign the beast that is the belly back in.

And I guess that’s about it for now.

We wonder if Kevin & the gang would now consider a similar-to-Blair-Witch release path for Dogma this October? Perhaps release it to 10 or so big cities (and a handful of screens) early in October, perhaps running some very quick teasers in theaters and on the tube that just showcase the amazing cast, without giving too much of the flick away? We think that if the already incredible buzz on the flick combines with a preview weekend like Blair, the press, along with the public, would carry Dogma into it’s wide release later in the month. We’d prefer it to the relatively quiet run that Amy had, anyway. Something to think about…
