• Here’s a neat announcement from Jim Mahfood. Seems that he and Kevin will be creating ORIGINAL One-page Clerks comics that will appear in future issues of “Talk” magazine! Here’s Jim:

• Remember when Kevin hinted that he may have some good news relating to Canada? This just might be it. We hear that Kevin will be appearing on Live in Toronto, with George Stroumboulopoulos on Thursday the 26th. Live in T.O. airs between 6pm-8pm every night on CFNY (102.1, the Edge). He’s the only guest listed for that nightm so chances are that he’ll be in for a good portin of the show. The neat thing is that spectators are welcome. They’ll be located at the temporary studios at the edge of Bay and Dundas. Not in Canada? Never fret, neither are we. They ALSO have a live Real Audio stream through their web site where you should be able to listen in! Cool, huh? This is the first we’ve heard of this one, so we’ll be watching closely to make sure the thing’s still happening this Thursday. Sounds like a good time!

Also, no set schedule has yet been made available for this weekend’s con in Toronto, but Kevin has revealed he’ll be there for certain. He’s always very good at making himself available for as long as possible, and signing until the cows come home, so those of you that attend are sure to have a chance to chat with the guy and get some swag scribbled on. Have a good time, get us your stories and pics, and be sure and tell the gang that Brad & Chris said hello. We’ll have more on the con as the week progresses, hopefully.

• Hey folks…Happy Monday. Yippee, right? Sure. Well, only 4 more days ’til the weekend, anyway. Response continues to be very good to the editorial, and we appreciate it. Keep in mind that what was said wasn’t really directed at any one source, just more intended as an FYI for the readers of the site to know some of the politics that were going on behind the scenes, since we were getting an incredible amount of questions as to why stories were suddenly changing or disappearing. Next time it happens, if ut happens again (and we’re not saying it won’t), at least you’ll know why. We still plan to continue looking at situations on a case by case basis. But I think we can always say that, if removing something would make Kevin happier, it’s tough to say no.

We’ve got an update for Dogma RC (again, not too much new since we’re still struggling just to keep this MAIN page up to date, but there is a new article there from the UK), the latest on what’s happening in Canada this week, and a few other tidbits. Also, check out our newly revamped and FINALLY updated COMICS pages. We’ve combined the best from Oni, the DareDevil series, and all of Kevin’s other comics-related projects onto one nice, easy to navigate page. Enjoy.

• AICN comes up with a blast from the past…A reviewer checks in with a very positive review of Kevin’s old, never published Six Million Dollar Man script:

We assume the script’s still out there via the comic shows and the script outlets. So look into digging one up if ya think you’d be interested. And before you ask, we don’t think this puppy is available online anywhere.

• Want your own custom Trooper Clerks action figure? We’ve found your man. This guy creates custom figures on just about anything you can think of, and sells them at auction on ebay. Looks like a Trooper Clerk is just a Stormtrooper with just a special card, but it’s still a neat little item. Click HERE to visit the site for more.

• Finally today, here’s a new pic we haven’t seen from Dogma yet. This comes from a small piece of praise in Independent Film and Video Magazine where they mentioned the Cannes screening. It’s purplish, but that’s the way it was printed. Here ya go.

• Sounds like a fun screening was held, but a disappointing turnout, in St. Louis…What’s wrong with you people!?! Hehehe…Alright, so maybe you have excuses. But still. Anyway, here’s an on-site report from last weekend’s Clerks screening held in Missouri. We don’t get many reports like this, so we thought we’d share:

Wanna catch a screening like this in YOUR area? The next one we see coming up is at Kent State’s Kent Cinema. Clerks will be playing on August 27th and 28th at midnight. Fill them seats!

• We’re proud to announce that we are now an affiliate of Amazon.Com. Basically, the only real effect that you’ll see from this is a new graphic in our sidebar on the left under our “Afflilates” section. We feel this is MUCH less intrusive than a big ad banner or the like, and hope that you don’t feel that we’re selling ourselves out by doing this kind of stuff. We’re doing our best to keep it to a minimum in order to preserve the look & feel of News Askew.

• Look out up there! The good news just keeps piling in. We’ve just gotten word that Jay Mewes himself is scheduled to join the rest of the fun-loving View Askew crew at the Toronto Expo this weekend. All are still scheduled to be at the show for its duration, so those of you that attend are sure to get to meet them all. No word yet on what, if anything, will be seen of Dogma at the show, but we’d bet the farm on at least getting to feast your eyes on the trailer…maybe more. We’ll have reports as it happens.
