  • Some sad news, Amy DVD fans: Latest reports point to the Chasing Amy DVD (as well as Alliance’s OTHER cool release, From Dusk ‘Til Dawn), NOT being 16:9 enhanced. This doesn’t mean much now, unless you have a widescreen set like me, but it DOES mean that the disc won’t have a new transfer or anything fancy like that. Sounding more and more to us like a carbon copy of the Criterion laser, which is fine with us, we suppose we were just hoping for a LITTLE bit more. Ya can’t win ’em all though. By the way, the splash graphic that looks like cover art over on DVD Depot (The cheap place on the net to buy the Amy DVD) is just something THEY created. No official cover art for the disc is out yet, but we figure that’s close to what it’ll look like. We’ll keep ya posted as we hear more on your chance to round out the triology on DVD.
  • In an article on Another Universe on Harley Quinn, they give a kind nod to the Smiths and their new arrival:
Even more, Harley had become a pop icon of sorts within the comics community, her popularity guaranteed for long into the next generation thanks to things like Kevin Smith naming his daughter after the character (“How cool is that?” Dini asks) and upcoming Detective Comics writer Greg Rucka sporting a Harley Quinn tattoo on his arm, something he’ll have a fun time explaining to his children.

  • An astute scooper points out you can sorta own stock in Dogma, for REAL, if ya like! Shares are currently less that 2 U.S. dollars each, on the AMEX Stock Market. If you’re a player, might not be a bad little investment. Just don’t forget us little people if ya do well. 😉
  • A piece ran in this week’s Entertainment Weekly Magazine (the Fall Preview issue) with that familiar pic of Matt & Ben sitting at the airport (we saw a good 10 to 20 takes of that one on the set) and a nifty writeup for Dogma that should get the word out there. The issue also lists a November release. We’ll have the full piece for ya soon, I’m just not up for transcribing at 1 AM!

  • Here’s a nifty pic we dug out of a trade magazine of the gang at the Virgin Megastore Mallrats DVD signing. Enjoy.

    The Blair Clown Project

  • Finally today, not really Askew related, but a faithful reader of ours is putting together what looks to be an excellent, well-made parody on Blair Witch. This one, titled The Blair Clown Project, even has a website modeled after the one that helped to make the original so famous. Click the graphic above to check it out!
