  • Bill Coughlan comes through again with another amazing piece of art. This time, he’s done a concept on what a one sheet might look like (teaser, for sure) if the “ultimate Jersey flick” were Kev’s next. We really dig this a lot. In fact, we wish we had a full size version of this to frame up on the wall. That’s how cool it is. You can view this wonderful work in large, medium, or small sizes.

The poster features a full “dream” cast list, along with the tagline “We’re gonna need a bigger budget”. Bill says:

I centered the image around the “Salsa Shark” (the original gem of an idea I had back when it was just going to be Clerks2), which meant that all o the other props had to be less prominent. In a nutshell, here’s a breakdown of the origins:

>From Clerks:
The “salsa shark,” a stick of Chewlie’s gum

>From Mallrats:
Brodie’s dixie cup and a couple of chocolate pretzels

>From Chasing Amy:
A dart (from the early game between Alyssa and Holden), am artist’spencil and an ink pen

>From Dogma:
A Mooby lapel pin and a Catholicism Wow! card

And as general references to Jay and Silent Bob:
Wrapping papers, a Nails cigarette and Bob’s button

  • A very fun and interesting website, brain.com, lists Dogma as one of the “smartestmovies of the year” in a very kind writeup on their site:
Dogma

Although ignored by Oscar, there are few films that are so consistently smart-pretty much each line in this film shines and astonishes. Two renegade fallen angels (Ben Affleck and Matt Damon) are determined to get back into heaven, despite the apocalyptic consequence and the efforts of descendant of Jesus Christ, an unacknowledged 13th apostle named Rufus (hysterically funny Chris Rock) and two “prophets” in the form of Silent Bob (writer/director Kevin Smith) and Jay (frequent Smith partner Jason Mewes). Smith’s story is wholly original and thoughtful, but with enough action to engageand entertain a wider audience.

  • About the July 18th delay on A Better Place’s DVD, Vincent says:
Those guys are doing us a HUGE favor with the 5.1 remix, but being that it is a “favor” and all, we have to work around their schedule- they are currently booked up, so the DVD has been delayed to accomadate the remix. I think an extra wait is worth it to get a 5.1 remix by the geniuses at Skywalker.
  • Here’s a weird one: The ZDTVsite promoted our Clerks 2 site as the Clerks TCS site and just got a ton of facts wrong. Odd.
