- Jason Lee‘s next role was announced in Variey today, and it sounds like a good one. This flick will most likely follow the release of the Cameron Crowe flick he just wrapped on (referred to as “Stillwaterâ€, usually), and Lee’s popularity will undoubtedly be soaring. This next flick sounds like a good date flick, and it’s got Jennifer Love Hewitt, so ya KNOW our tickets are already as good as bought:
Lee catches ‘Break’
Thesp joining Weaver, Hewitt in Lion laffer
Jason Lee will co-star with Sigourney Weaver and Jennifer Love Hewitt in MGM’s “The Breakers,†a comedy about a mother-daughter team of con artists.
Lee will take the role of Jack, a bartender whom Hewitt targets as an easy mark. Her plan is foiled, however, when she finds herself falling in love with him.
Directed by David Mirkin, “The Breakers†is written by Stephen Mazur, Paul Guay and Leora Barish. John Davis produces, with MGM exec veepee Alex Gartner serving as exec producer. Production is slated to begin April 17 in Palm Beach, Fla.
Lee, who recently wrapped Cameron Crowe’s as-yet-untitled feature for DreamWorks, starred in Lawrence Kasdan’s “Mumford†and was featured in Kevin Smith’s “Dogma.†His credits also include the films “Enemy of the State,†“Kissing a Fool†and “Chasing Amy,†for which he won an Independent Spirit Award.
Lee is repped by UTA, manager Gay Ribisi of Ribisi Entertainment and attorney Ken Richaman.
Lee’s been doing some fantastic film work since he started in Mallrats, and it’s good to see he’s getting more visible parts. And now he’s gonna play the love interest of Jennifer Love Hewitt?? And get PAID??? Wow. Wonder if it’s too late for us to sign up for acting school…hmmm…
