In case ya missed our announcement during Vulgarthon, yes, you WILL have your chance to own a copy of this rarely seen View Askew Production, thanks to IndieDVD! We spoke with Jonah Loeb, the president of the company, at Vulgarthon, who should be in touch with us throughout the production. Here’s their story:
For you fans of all things Kevin Smith and his production company, View Askew Productions , we’ve just received word that IndieDVD Inc. , a Portland, Oregon company committed to presenting independent and underground cinema in DVD format, today announced that it has acquired the rights to the View Askew 1996 film, Drawing Flies.

The company teamed with View Askew, renowned for the success of Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy and Dogma, to release this picture in both VHS and DVD formats.

‘Drawing Flies’, filmed entirely in black and white, is about a group of friends who lose their way in the woods in pursuit of Bigfoot. Produced by Kevin Smith and co-directed and co-written by Matt Gissing and Malcolm Ingram, the film features Jason Lee (Almost Famous, Enemy of the State, Dogma, Mumford), Jason Mewes (Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma) and Rene Humphries (Fun, Mallrats, French Kiss, Devil in a Blue Dress).

While no details of the DVD release of Drawing Flies have been concretized, plans for the disc currently include commentary tracks by co-directors and co-writers Ingram and Gissing, as well as Kevin Smith, Jason Lee, Jason Mewes and Scott Mosier. Both the VHS and DVD versions should be available in Spring 2001.
