• Yup, it’s Monday, so you know what that means! Three more never before seen pictures from the set of Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back, from the camera of Scott Mosier. Again, this stuff is normally not done during shooting, but behind the scenes or between takes to catch folks in their natural, off camera states. Scott captures some very nice moments, too. • Clerks will air again, uncut, this Thursday on the Independent Film Channel.
• Kevin Smith and many other filmmakers are subjects of a new book about starting out in the film business, called My First Movie. The book’s reviewed in the latest Entertainment Weekly and is from author Stephen Lowenstein.

• Kevin just dropped in to the board with some pretty big news on two of the film’s cameos…Both Carrie Fisher and (most unbelievable) Shannon Doherty will appear in Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back. The Fisher thing we’d actually learned about a few weeks ago, but weren’t sure if that was to remain a secret until release (as the trades said nil on the subject), but now that it’s public knowledge, hey, spread the word! 2 Star Wars alumni in one View Askew flick. Pretty cool eh? Here’s that information and more from the man himself:

• By now you’ve probably all heard of the American Pie 2 vs. Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back thing at the box office this August, with both of them currently projecting August 10th as a release date. Well, we’re not sure what to make of it, but one site has thrown up a comparison of sorts, with you can check out HERE. Our opinion is that there’s no way both of these films will opt to go head-to-head with a release date this summer, and with J&SBSB already almost finished, and Pie just getting underway, you can probably expect Pie to opt for a late summer or early Fall bow. Whatcha think?

• There’s a British Comic Con (Comics 2001) where they’re doing something pretty cool this year: Making a custom deck of playing cards illustrated by various artists, selling the decks and auctioning the originals off for charity.

Among this art is a Duncan Fegredo painting of Jay and Silent Bob, for the 2 of Diamonds. (The Ace of Spades is co-illustrated by Matt Wagner, artist of the J&SB story in One Double Feature 1, but he’s drawing his character Grendel.)

• The latest WizardWorld piece on Jay & Bob has been posted, regarding Kevin running around with a monkey on his back (with this picture to accompany it).
• Affleck was recently featured in US Weekly’s Internet section, where he gives ViewAskew.com props for being a site on the net he visits frequently due to the interactivity. Affleck, by the way, will also do a voiceover for the new Diet Coke ads which start airing tonight.

• Sigourney Weaver is asked about working with Jason Lee in “Heartbreakers” in an IGN Filmforce interview recently:

• Speaking of Lee, here’s a small new article on him from the New York Daily News.
• Chasing Amy is currently selected as one of BestBuy.com’s essential special edition DVDs.

• The headline speaks for itself. This week’s new Entertainment Weekly (dated March 30th) features a blurb about Jay & Silent Bob Strikes Back, in which Kevin not only comments on Ben & Matt’s involvement in the film, which most you should know already, but also alludes to the name of Mark Hamill’s character in the film! Here’s the article. Speculate away from this one, folks. Our lips are sealed!

Wow, sounds like EW sure painted Kev into a corner there! Seperate photos of Smith, Hamill, Affleck & Damon also appear with the blurb. Some more excellent publicity for the film, indeed.

• Damon & Affleck’s reality series has indeed gotten the greenlight and will air this September on ABC. I for one say that their “The Mole” was a pretty decent show, but this one’s really intriguing. Will they be able to make it work with just one contestant and the world looking for them? And what happens if someone finds this guy or gal one week into the show? Will they show dead air for the rest of the season? Certainly an interesting concept, and ABC probably has prepared for any possible outcome, so I guess we’ll see what happens:

• Academy Award winner Ben Affleck will make his third presenter appearance on this year’s Oscar® telecast, producer Gil Cates has announced. The Oscars will be presented on March 25, 2001, at the Los Angeles Shrine Auditorium. Sunday at the Oscars® will be televised live by the ABC Television Network beginning at 5 p.m. (PST), with a half-hour arrivals segment preceding the presentation ceremony. Information about the 73rd Academy Awards can be accessed at oscar.com.
• Ali Larter was selected as Babe of the Day over at the Mr. Skin.com website. This is an adult site, so surf over at your own risk, kids.
• Jon Favreau (of Swingers fame and soon to be Made – July 13, 2001 release) mentions on his official site that he shot a talk show for IFC called “Dinner for Five” earlier this week. His guests were Jeanne Triplehorn, JOEY LAUREN ADAMS, Kevin James, and Peter Berg. Look for it, uncut and uncensored, in August 2001 on the Independant Film Channel.
• George Carlin is going to appear on Letterman this Monday. The appearance is likely to announce his new laugh.com site, but ya never know, he may mention Jay and Silent Bob.

• Hey folks…We’ve got a pretty cool update for you today, as we finally catch up on some stuff and present some features and material that we think you’re really gonna dig.
