  • The Seeing Stars website has announced that the J&SBSB premiere will be held on Wednesday, August 15 at the Mann Village Theatre in Westwood, California, one week before it’s big release.
  • The influence is spreading…”Because I Got High” by Afroman (from the J&SBSB soundtrack) was the number one song last night on KROQ’s Furious Five. KROQ was just named the #1 station in LA in the latest Arbitron book as well.
  • A fun new article in the Village Voice proposes what other directors’ versions of Speilberg’s A.I. would have been like, and yep, Kevin’s one of the folks mentioned:
KEVIN SMITH Narrowly escaping a Shit Monster who is ravaging the Jersey shore, orphaned David forms a symbiotic bond with pimp-manqué convenience-store clerk Gigolo Joe (David: “Are you the Blue Fairy?” GJ: “I’m not a fuckin’ fag, you fuckin’ fag”). Upon being revived, the real Blue Fairy—in fact an inflatable sex toy named Betty Blueballs—administers a blowjob to David and conjures from his spunk a doting three-breasted Mommy.

  • The latest issue of Star Wars Insider again gives Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back a plug, more big press for the film:
“Everyone who’s seen his films know that director Kevin Smith(Dogma, Chasing Amy) is one of us. The man LOVES Star Wars – one of the most memorable scenes in his film “Clerks” was the scene in which the two main characters pondered the morality of the contract workers dying along side the imperial bad guys in the Rebellion’s fiery attack on the unfinished Death Star in Return Of The Jedi. And, Silent Bob’s homage to Yoda in “Mallrats” manages to keep that movie on our to-rent list’s. So, no one should be surprised that Smith’s next venture, due out in August, is titled ‘Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back’”
  • Just a final sidenote today – Jurassic Park III opened up on a Wednesday this week and scored a 19.1 million dollar opening! Wow. And the movie’s not even that good. If they can promote Jay & Bob and pull in early audiences (granted, the film’s R-rated, but still), the Wednesday opening could be quite impressive. Tell your friends!
