• Got a lot of mail on this one – Kevin appeared on a FOX special promoting the new “Planet Of The Apes” movie last night, where he briefly mentions how he watches the original flick with his “2 year old” Harley. Many saw it, but no one had an exact quote. That’s the basic idea, though. If you have a copy, please let us know!
• According to Amazon, the Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back score CD is set for an August 21st release.
• Countingdown.com continues their Interview Askew series with J&SBSB’s makeup supervisor, Patty Androff. You can read this short little interview right HERE.

• There’s a slight View Askew reference in the latest issue of Savage Dragon (#87), in which Dragon calls a character “Silent Bob”. We’ve got a scan of that page for you right here.
• These 2 humorous Chasing Amy/Star Wars parody posters were spotted over at TheForce.Net.
• Kevin’s starting to do more radio interviews for the film, though our being out yesterday caused us to miss a couple: Today, he’s scheduled to be on Edge 102 in Toronto sometime in the morning (though we’re probably too late on this one). He was also set to phone into John And Frank in Tucson, Arizona yesterday morning. If anyone caught these appearances, send us a report!
• Video Store Magazine recently ran a big article on the Dogma SE DVD release and the allure of extras in the market:

The SE was number 9 on the top 50 list of DVD sellers, not bad at all for a Special Edition that had a regular edition out earlier in the year!

• Those folks who watch the Big Brother 2 webcasts on the internet very regularly have noticed that current cast member Hardy listed himself as being an extra in Dogma. Here’s this info from a recent summaries post:

• A magazine called “Kingsize” was spotted in a recent Borders, which we hear has a 2-piece spread on Bryan Johnson and “Vulgar”, as well as other controversy surrounding clowns. If anyone has the piece scanned or typed in, let us know.
• This ASCII art of the logos of the flicks must have taken someone too much time for us not to mention.

• Speaking of art, here’s a cool little piece of art that my cousin Matt recently created. He’s just graduated college and looking to break into the biz, so if anyone needs some help, let him know!
• X-Entertainment features some pics from this year’s San Diego con, including a good shot of that guy who dressed as the Buddy Christ. The direct link to that pic is HERE.
• Finally today, congrats to Mike Avon Oeming, Bluntman & Chronic artist, on the Eisner Award he won for “Powers” (Best New Series) at the San Diego con!

• Hey everyone. I just got back from the Tenacious D show and saw that the full Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back trailer was posted in glorious Quicktime over at Apple’s site. Just click HERE to view it! We’ll have a better full update for you tomorrow.

• Howdy folks, things calmed down a bit today after a HUGE update yesterday. It’s certainly not been easy keeping up with stuff, but we do thank you for all the scoops. A lot of the monthly magazine type promotional stuff has already arrived, but you can expect some newspaper, radio, and television promotion in the coming weeks. There’s going to be a TON of reviews coming out on the flick, as well. We’ll make an effort to catalog a lot of those over at “Scooping The Monkey” for ya. So far, critical and fan response has been overwhelmingly positive. A good sign. But still, the moviegoing public (that’s you people and the word of mouth that you get going) will decide the box office.

Speaking of updates, this will be the last update until Thursday, as a group of us are heading into Camden, NJ for a daylong outdoor concert tomorrow. If anything major breaks, you’ll be able to catch it over at the talkbacks, forums, or at the View Askew boards we’re sure. Otherwise, check back for a big new update on Thursday.

A sidenote: We’re getting TONS of e-mails containing that new e-mail worm going around at home, and a lot of them are from familiar folks who read this site (and it spreads from there). Please scan your systems for this latest virus, as it’s not much of a threat to us, it’s still a pain. Plus you’re probably sending out to a TON of other folks that you may affect. Watch out!

• As a followup to yesterday’s story, a fan overheard Kevin state that the “Judge Not” Dogma documentary would likely appear on the Vulgar DVD, when it’s eventually released. Again, this is unconfirmed, but seems likely. If this is the case, don’t expect to see it for at least another 6 months or so. We’ll keep you posted as we learn more.
• The Afroman track and another big mention were heard on this morning’s Howard Stern show. Stern also urged Kevin (who listens regularly) to call in to discuss Afroman and the song. Hopefully this means Kevin will be able to book a phone call into the show soon, it’ll be a great way to get a big plug out to a TON of listeners, many of whom fall into the key demographic that Dimension is shooting for with J&SBSB. If you’re reading this, Kevin, give the show a call soon!
• Speaking of Afroman, there’s an official website HERE that’s got a lot of info on the band as well as a bunch of downloadable tunes. Check it out.

• Those of you addicted to that computer game “The Sims” might be interested in these new skins, including, Bluntman and Chronic, Banky, Brodie, Dante and Randal. Here’s some pics of them in action. We’ve got the free addon files over at Files Askew for you, as well.
• Attention Green Arrow fans: The Unofficial Green Arrow Compendium has moved and evolved. You can check the site out at its new home HERE.

• Some new pics have been added to composer James Venable’s website, venablemusic.com which contain shots of the orchestra recording the score to Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back and lots more.

Mysterio’s also got a ton of pics of his own, along with a report on the session itself which appears over at AICN. There’s also some text about the ADR (automated dialogue replacement) session, where some of the film’s actors are re-recording some dialogue for the flick. Here’s a small snippet:

Also, seeing as Jim Venable is doing the musical score for J&SBSB, you might also be interested to know that he’s also doing the music for “Samurai Jack”, the new cartoon from the same guy who does Powerpuff Girls & Dexter’s Labrotory. The latest issues of Toyfare and Wizard have a “Samurai Jack” CD-ROM enclosed, which contains a Behind The Scenes featurette where youget to see and hear Jim Venable talk about the music he creates for the series. Nothing about J&SBSB there, though.

• Green Arrow #6 will arrive in stores on Wednesday from DC Comics. The issue is written by Kevin Smith, with art by Phil Hester and Ande Parks and a beautifullu painted cover by Matt Wagner. Here’s how DC describes the issue:

Speaking of Ollie Queen, DC is going back to press for the fourth time with Green Arrow #1, and Kevin Smith will write the lead story in an upcoming Green Arrow Secret Files according to Comics Newsarama. Sounds like there’s plenty more Green Arrow goodness to come, and that the books continue to sell at an amazing rate. Hope you got those first print issue #1’s when they were around!

• Here’s a slightly better quality look at the full one sheet for Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back. As you can see, it’s quite similar to the soundtrack art we posted recently, with the tagline and credits added at the top and bottom, of course. If we can get an even clearer scan, we’ll post that up, but for now, it’s something.

• Chalk up another glowing review for the upcoming “A Better Place” DVD, this one at the DVD File website…So take THAT you people who thought we were blowing smoke, the DVD’s loved everywhere! Anyway, DVDFile’s an extremely reputable and well-read site. Here’s their summary:

• According to the Fall/Winter 2001 preview from Lion’s Gate, VULGAR is back under the “September 2001” release slate. With only two months to go, it certainly looks like they’ll start to roll the film out to theaters then. Again, expect a very small release, as the film’s coming out unrated.
• The influence continues to spread. In Indianapolis, IN, the “Big Dumb Show” on WRZX (103.3 FM) mentioned the pushing up of J&SBSB today. They gave a brief synopsis of the plot, followed by their personal comments that went something along the lines of “this could be the best movie ever”. Pretty good hype considering they’ve yet to see the film, going off just plot and reputation alone.
• A recent Entertainment Weekly blurb mentioned Kevin’s work on the documentary for Prince. Here’s the full text:

• This small blurb comes from the “Watch Out For…” column of the Daily Mail (British Newspaper) entertainment column. Still no word on a British release date for the film itself, though:

• Finally today, scattered reports are coming in of the J&SBSB trailer playing with Jurassic Park 3 in the US and Canada. Considering that film’s massive gross last week, that can only mean more exposure…A good thing!

• Just had to get this scoop online as well as there’s already a slew of e-mails out it…On this morning’s Howard Stern radio show, around 10:00 AM EST, Stern talked about “Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back” – specifically the soundtrack. He has some very kind words about (”The great film director”) Kevin, and he played the Afroman song, “Because I Got High.” He also mentioned the video. He played most of the song (cutting out the sex references only), saying that it’s the “#1 requested song at K-Rock.” Stern also gave Kevin credit for discovering Afroman and bringing him to the public. Check back later and we’ll try and get an audio clip of this online for ya.
