- Our scooper tells us of a screening he’s seen of a flick called “Whatever”, which is about a bunch of girls in high school in the 1980’s. What’s Askew-related about this, you may ask? Well, it’s written, produced, and directed by Susan Skoog, a Red Bank, NJ native! It even has a scene shot at the Red Bank train station, which many of you Vulgarthon attendees will recognize. The flick’s due out in July.
- Kevin & “Chasing Amy” got another mention courtesy of “Object of My Affection”, this one in the Miami Herald. Here’s the relevant portion:
But Chasing Amy cost $200,000; The Object of My Affectioncost $30 million. Since the financial stakes are much larger, Hollywood movies must appeal to a massive audience to make a profit. Producers play it safe and rely on stereotypes, assuming that if the gay characters behave as general audiences think they behave, no one will be offended.
