Kevin Checks In…

  • Kevin’s back with his usual dose of goodness…Lots of info on what’s been up, and the usual cryptic hints regarding the coolness to come. We’ll let the man talk:

Some bones for you dogs to chew on…

Isn’t that what these update posts are reputed to be? I know I read that somewhere once…

I’m in a hotel in LA (if there are spelling errors, please excuse; I’m using the in-room internet service, and the screen is very, very small).Had to pop out for a little business, but I’m heading home very shortly.

Not much new to report. Toronto was great. Thanks to all who came out for the screenings. The press was wonderful (though the NY Times piece the other day vexed a bit; first, they said the reaction seemed mixed, which – while I didn’t speak to every journalist there – wasn’t the case; and secondly, the public screening was describd as something like “…seem to be enjoyed,” or the like; there was nothing ‘seem to’ about it; that Satrday night screening was killer; but hey – it was a really good piece, so what the hell am I bitching about).

Posters should be up this weekend. We’re got one hanging in the window of the Stash. Cruise by and check it out if you’re in the area.

The trailer (I’m told) is on about 1500 screens right now, with more to come. I’m not sure what it’s in front of, but it’s up there, at least. And Lord, is it about time. There’s less than two months to go before opening day.

I saw ‘Stigmata’ the other night. All I can say is wow. I can’t believe WE’RE the ones being attacked (though, even that’s quieted down, thank God).

We recorded Alec Baldwin for the ‘Clerks’ cartoon the other day. Man, was he phnomenal. His character’s in five of the first six shows, but he blew through the record in less than two hours, AND did a sweet job. i’ve just finished going over the storyboards for show four, so we’re almost out of the loop. Next up – shipping to Korea for the actual animating.

Speaking of which, Chris Bailey (the shows’ director) did a new drawing for the View Askew homepage. It should be up in the next few weeks, and it’s gorgeous. It features Jay and Silent Bob as they appear on the cartoon, so you’ll get an early look at their designs. Thanks to Chris for such a terrific piece of work.

If you see the Interview magazine 30th Anniversary ish, there’s a pic of me and Harley on page 180. Babe Askew would like all to know that she’s much, much cuter in real life, and the picture does her no justice. She’s also like me to pass on that since her visually inept father took the photo and knows nothing about lighting, she’s not surprised how poorly she was shot.

In closing, I’d like to say we’re still firming up the details of the ‘Dogma’ screening. We’ll let you know when tix will go up.

And after ‘Dogma’, I think some of you are going to be shocked where Jay and Silent Bob pop up next. It’s not the cartoon. It’s not a comic. It’s…

Well – you’ll see.
