Classically Independent Festival…

  • After Kevin made the post announcing Clerks is going to be shown at this festival (Sunday, June 7th, at 4:45 PM), our scoopers answered back with the entire schedule and some info. Click HERE for all the dates and read on for the details:
“Independent film is all about the freedom to follow your vision and the integrity that can set artistic precedents,” says Francis Ford Coppola, the honorary chair of the festival. ” Dockers(r) Khakis Classically Independent Film Festival captures that spirit by showcasing the work of those rebels who inspired a new generation of filmmakers. In the process, we are also celebrating the vibrant San Francisco film community.”

The festival’s classic slate focuses on breakthrough films from the 1980s, a decade when audiences took notice of indies more than ever before. Also scheduled are newer landmark films from the 1990s, and the regional premieres of much-anticipated independent releases which appeared at this year’s Sundance Film Festival.

The films will begin playing at the Castro Theater Friday, San Francisco, June 5, through Tuesday, June 9.

Remember, from now on, ALL of Kevin’s update posts from Pittsburgh can be found under Kevin’s section at our own Dogma: Rumor Control. His post containing this info has been placed there.

Oh, and yes, we saw the little Entertainment Weekly blurb, and we’re not gonna use it…We don’t talk about God casting stuff (as you know) and the Damon/Affleck stuff seems a little off, as well. ‘Til next time.
