  • The BBC’s Film 99 show is having a poll on the best films of the Century (well, Millenium, but let’s face it, how many films can you namecheck pre-1900?), so we suggest all you British fanboys and girls out there place your vote. This IS limited to films that have been given a cinematic release, so this counts out Mallrats, which didn’t get a theatrical run in the UK, believe it or not. Clerks & Chasing Amy DID though, and we wonder if Dogma might be slipped in, too, considering it comes out 5 days before the new year! To vote, phone 0900 133 9919, or go to the website HERE to nominate your top 5 cinematic releases of the last “Millenium”. Not only would it help Kev to have his name out there in the UK, but it would also help stir up some publicity for Dogma. Results are put out on the last show of the series, and the website previously mentioned, on Tuesday December 7th.
  • Another Universe’s Daily Buzz has some quotes from Kevin, AND a contest in which people can win tickets to see DOGMA by answering 3 trivia questions of a religious nature. This may be in yesterday’s buzz section by presstime, but shouldn’t be tough to find.
  • We’d like to thank The Comic Vault for listing News Askew/Dogma Rumor Control as their featured site for the week! To celebrate the release of Dogma, they’re reviewing the entire Jay & Silent Bob miniseries this week. Be sure and surf over to their site and check it out.
  • Now THIS is how you put together a film festival! Check this out…To celebrate Dogma’s release, a theater in California is holding an all-night Kevin Smith Marathon on Saturday, November 20th. They’ve dubbed it The Jay and Silent Bob-Athon and will being giving out prizes to those who stay with each show. Clerks, Mallrats, and Chasing Amy will be shown in all of their 35MM print glory. Here’s the full details, don’t miss it!

  • Howdy all. Up above you’ll fine the latest appearance list, including a NEW appearance we JUST learned of today. A LIVE CHAT with Kevin TODAY on cnn.com (http://www.cnn.com/chat/auditorium.html) at 1 PM EST!!! Sorry for the late notice on this, we wish we’d heard sooner, but it seemed to come out of nowhere.

Just a quick aside, by the way: Just heard today there’s a bill out there to allow Satellite Dish systems to carry local network programming. All I can say is IT’S ABOUT TIME!!! Of course, cable companies are fighting this to the end because it means MAJOR competition to them and the end of their monopoly on local networks. I for one will be the first to drop my cable and buy a dish when this happens, and you can bet this will ALSO mean lower prices from cable AND satellite in order for the two systems to compete. God bless America.

This is a quick mid-day update to just keep on top of things, we’ll be back early tomorrow with another one. Thanks to Alonso Duralde, JK Radomski, RiSE, Steve Rhodes, Mark L, Jenn Broman, Chris Adkins, Jamie Lorance, Mark Zalikowski, Amy Welborn & Josh Kern for the news on the appearances, articles, and reviews today. The new Dogma articles and reviews, as always, appear exclusively on our Dogma: Rumor Control site. Be sure and check there before you think something’s missing.
