• Kevin Smith & Chris Rock filmed an episode of The Charlie Rose Show yesterday. For the unfamiliar, The Charlie Rose Show is a very intelligent one-on-one talk show that airs on PBS affiliates. We’re not sure of an airdate just yet, but it’s most likely sometime next week. Keep checking http://www.pbs.org/charlierose to see when they update the air schedules. Rumor has it that Kev’s Charlie Rose interview was so good that it’ll appear on the Dogma DVD, sorta like they did with Tarantino and the “Pulp Fiction” laserdisc.
• Jason Lee appeared at Dogma’s UCLA screeing last week for a Q&A session afterward. He had on a Clerks T-shirt and answered questions for about half an hour or so. There was no really new information revealed. Most people just asked about what was his favorite VA film or how acting differed from skating. We hear the crowd turnout was among the biggest ever for a film screening at the college.
• On NPR Weekend Edition this morning they reveiwed/discussed Dogma. Although it hasn’t been posted yet, the review (in real audio format) should be available at http://www.npr.org/programs/wesat/ under the latest show link (last week’s show (11/6) is still the latest show). Keep watching.

• Yesterday’s update was probably the longest, largest update in News Askew history! Thanks to everyone who went out and saw Dogma last night. The preliminary figures are in, and it looks like the film pulled in over 3 million bucks (3.04 million, to be exact), not too shabby, making it #2 in the country (behind Pokemon) according to per-screen averages. Tom from Lions Gate contacted us and wanted us to thank all of you for going to see the flick. Dogma is on track to make about $10 million this weekend, not too shabby of an opening at all, and should easily be Kevin’s most popular film to date, by far.

Response to Dogma has been amazing. We’re hearing stories of sold out shows, folks sitting in the aisles, roaring applause when the title comes up and throughout the film, nonstop laughter, and more. Not too much on the protesting front, just a lot of very pleased audiences, many of whom tell us they’re going to see the flick 2 and 3 times this weekend alone.
