• Dogma’s UK coverage continues with release just one month away. Heat magazine keeps up its good work with a Chris Rock interview this week – sadly not too many Dogma references. There’s the usual “We meet Chris Rock, star of Lethal Weapon 4 and the upcoming Dogma”, as well asa brief chat about the differences between working on a film the size of Dogma and Lethal Weapon. There’s a pic taken from the movie with Chris and Kevin.

Also spotted in the pages of The Sun newspaper…A shot of Salma Hayek in combat fatigues – she’s entertaining troops right now…No mention of Dogma in the piece, however.

• Finally, voting started today for the seat of Kensington and Chelsea…If you recall, this is the office we once heard Alan Rickman might be lining up for. As far as we know, that rumor died out and he’s no longer involved. Just an FYI.

According to Corona, “Coyote Ugly” is again the name of that flick Kevin helped scribe (after having its name changed to “Bandito Smiles”).

• Malcolm Ingram (director of the rarely seen “Drawing Flies” (and PLEASE stop asking us, no it’s not out in theaters or on tape anywhere, and there’s no copies to be had!) reports that his NEW flick, “Tail Lights Fade” (starring a nice ensemble, including current Bond babe Denise Richards – yowza) can be seen at a special promo screening for anyone in the Vancouver or Toronto areas on December 1st and 2nd. Reply to Malcolm on the VA Web Board if you’re interested in a first look! The film opens on the 3rd in Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa and Vancouver.

• We were hoping they’d do this, and now it’s official! Oni Press will be collecting the Clerks comic series into a nice trade paperback, to be released just in time for the Animated Series’ premeiere this March. Yes, it WILL include the yet unreleased Lost Scene book, which we’re still hoping to see before the end of this year (though we’ve got no further info on the book at this point, sorry). Anyway, Here’s the official story:

• Well, I’m off to spend some time with the family for Thanksgiving. Chris will be around holding down the fort until then, but we should both be back with an update this Friday if there’s some stuff to report (we’re sure there will be!). In the meantime, have an excellent holiday, and, even if you’re not celebrating turkey day, why not get in touch with your family and friends to say hello, anyway? We’re sure they’d love to hear from you.

Only one story today for the news, but it’s a good one:

• Sounds like plans are afoot for a Daredevil film…We’ve heard nothing of Kevin’s involvement with this, but damn, we’d sure love to see the guy get hired to write a screenplay for the flick. We’re sure he wouldn’t want to direct it, but think his screenplay in the right director’s hands could make for a really amazing flick. Maybe they can even bring Joe & Jimmy on board to sketch some original art for an opening credits sequence or something…Anyway, we’ll be watching this one. Right now, Sony Pictures are close to inking the deal with Marvel. That’s all we know so far.
• Dark Horizons posted a review for Damon & Affleck‘s upcoming production “The Third Wheel” today. We don’t know much about the film, but the review IS listed as spoiler filled (and negative) so read at your own risk. We didn’t, and won’t be printing it here for that reason.
• Roger Ebert runs a column in the Chicago Sun Times called “The Movie Answer Man” on Sundays. He answers questions posed by readers, and one of the questions he chose to include on Nov. 21st edition was from a scooper of ours! He asked a question about ‘Dogma’. Below is the question and his response as it appeared in the column.

• In the new issue of The Face magazine in the UK, there’s quite a large article on Kevin Smith (pages 116 thru 122).

The first two pages are a photo of Kevin on what seems to be Asbury Boardwalk, lying down smoking. There’s a banner heading – “The Heretic”, and a couple of paragraphs of text. Next 2 pages are more text and a photo of Kevin behind the door at the QuickStop, followed by two more full pages of text, all to tie in with the UK release of Dogma. There’s a great bit when Kevin and the Journalist bump into Jason Mewes (plus recalling how he remembered his lines so as not to piss off Alan Rickman – a great story when Kev tells it). During the article they go to the Stash, Kevin chats with Gwyneth Paltrow on the phone and he and the Jounalist generally chat about all things Askew (“Big Helium Dog” and “Vulgar” get mentioned). We’re working on the photos and a transcript for ya.

• Finally today, from the wacky ads department…This one actually appeared in a Grand Rapids, Michigan newspaper. Wow, two movies released to theaters at the same time! Kev’s been busier than we thought! Check it out. 😉

• In case you’ve missed it, the official View Askew website (which we’re of course now a part of) has been given an incredible facelift. Check out the front page for what we believe is the first sampling of what Jay & Silent Bob will appear like in the Clerks animated series, with a cool graphic (that bears a striking similarity to my new gameroom, which you’ll see a pic of in a few days). The graphic leads into a wonderful front page layout that highlights the sections of the website, along with the latest from Kevin, multimedia clips, and more. As soon as you finish today’s news, do NOT miss checking out the new and amazingly improved ViewAskew.Com!

• Just a quick little starter today, we’ll probably be back with more news — But in the meantime, how’s about helping us out? We’re going to be conducting a fall cleanup of sorts, as well as fixing up some really messy HTML coding (The site may look good on the surface, but it’s a nightmare underneath!). So, in addition to probably a few hours worth of downtime sometime this weekend, we’re also putting up some “experimental” code in the hopes you can check it out for us. Basically, if it WORKS, do NOT write us (Or else our mailbox will explode). What we want to hear is if you have any problems. So, if the page works as well (or better) than it does for ya now, cool. If things do NOT work properly, Please let me know.. In the meantime, simply surf over to this BETA TEST PAGE and report any problems back here. And, as promised, we are back. It’s late, though, so no time for chit-chat, let’s just get to some news here:

• Unless you live under a rock, you’re probably now aware that the big announcement at the end of Dogma’s credits was that “Jay & Silent Bob Will Return In Clerks 2: Hardly Clerkin’”! We wanted to wait a couple of weeks to report on this news to give you all the chance to see the announcement first-hand for yourselves, so we hope that most of you have. For those of you that we ruined the surprise for by posting this…Well, we’re sorry. Anyway, we don’t know much about this project yet, but here’s a few tidbits just to get the ball rolling:

• Well, folks, here it is. Our first NEW game since the start of this site. Many of you may not realize this, but when this website (then called “Drinks Askew”) first came along it was actually designed to JUST house the drinking games for the Jersey Trilogy that we’d created, and that was it. Little did we know what we’d gotten ourselves into! Heh Heh.

Those three games are still online as a part of our much larger News Askew mega-site now, and in addition to those (yes, the original Clerks, Mallrats, and Chasing Amy drinking games pages are still there!) we’ve got Dogma RC, Files Askew, Comics Askew, the Summaries, tons of trip summaries, an extensive news archive, and lots more. Whew.

So, we decided that we had a lot to live up to when we created the Dogma drinking game. Lots of questions were asked, and we ran the flick through our heads many times. Keep in mind, by the way, this game is totally untested, since we haven’t got a copy of the flick ourselves (and our local theater owners frown upon carrying cases of cold beer in, go figure). So, as always, PLAY AT YOUR OWN RISK. As soon as we get a copy at home, we’ll run through the game ourselves, test it out, and give you an idea of the average amount of drinks consumed, as we’ve always done in the past. At that point the game may receive some tweaking to make it more enjoyable.

Again, we realize the rules of the game don’t even scratch the surface of all that happens, after all, this is the longest and most ambitious View Askew production to date. We hope that you have a good time when you eventually get the chance to give it a try and, as always, drink responsibly. Enjoy the Dogma Drinking Game!
