• If you’re like 99% of the population and don’t quite understand what a ratings “point” is, here’s the bottom line. We’ve finally got clarification. Last week’s Clerks had a 5.2 rating. Each point represents 1,000,008 TV households. So, according to Nielsen, if ya do the math, 7.4 million households tuned into Clerks last week. Hey, that’s not bad at all! A “share” by the way, is the percentage of TV sets in use. Clerks had a “9” share, which means 9% of TV’s were on at the time. Is that all? 🙂

• When asked a question about the way cool new Fight Club DVD (A great DVD and a fantastic flick, see it), Vincent dropped some big details on the upcoming Dogma Special Edition DVD. Check it out!

• We predicted big things for this guy way back when, and it’s just getting better! Seems that the guy’s really gonna be a household name soon. With the new Cameron Crowe/Stillwater flick coming out, Lee’s already working on a ton of new projects…First, we had that one with Jennifer Love-Hewitt, now a new ensemble from Sonnenfeld. Wow, this guy’s racking up some great projects, and good for him!

Sidenote: This month’s Movieline (with Mel Gibson on the cover) spotlights Jason Lee’s home entertainment system on page 88. There’s a pic with Jason and his TV along with a one page article.

• Here’s a new interview with Kevin courtesy of Entertainment Weekly online. In it, he discusses the Clerks series, and how he REALLY feels towards ABC. Another fun interview that you’ll certainly want to take a few minutes and peruse.
• Dogma will be shown at this years Glastonbury Festival in the UK on Sunday, June 25th, in the cinema tent. Here’s the lineup for that night:

Three really decent films there, for sure! We say ya take an afternoon nap, show up for Dogma, and keep your seat for all of ‘em!

• The IMDB’s “Truly Trivial” asked yesterday: In what movie was Emma Thompson originally cast as God? Hopefully you all know the answer.
• In related news, the IMDB also claims that Chasing Amy is the #3 selling DVD preorder at the moment. Not bad, though we can’t help but wonder where they get all those wonderful statistics.
• Unfortunately, delays with production are continuing to prevent Vincent from finishing work on the A Better Place DVD by its propsed July release date. There were no official annoucements on a new date yet, but today, Reel.Com sent a note out to all who pre-ordered the movie with a new date of AUGUST 22. Take it with a grain of salt, we all knew the disc wasgoing to be delayed, but no one knows for sure when it’s gonna happen.
• We hear some Chasing Amy graphitti appears on the walls of page 1 of the new issue of Spawn. We’ll try and nab a scan, I’ve been lacking behind on my Spawn issues. Stupid comic shop cancelled my subscription on me for not coming in enough.

Well, it seems that the day that will answer one of the most oft-asked e-mail questions e-mails in News Askew history is just a week away, but it hardly seems like it!

Criterion‘s Chasing Amy DVD is scheduled to street one week from today, on June 13th. Unfortunately, we’ve yet to get a peep out of Criterion on the disc, aside from an e-mail scolding us a while back when we posted rumors that it wouldn’t make the release date. We’ve asked a couple times for a review copy of the disc and received no response. So, we’re sorry to say, it doesn’t look like there will be any advanced review of this disc. It’s sad that Criterion doesn’t cooperate with DVD sites, since it doesn’t seem anyone else has received a copy, either, but we’re especially disappointed that we’re not able to bring you an advanced look at one of just four flicks that this site was first created to celebrate.

We’ll likely just place orders for the disc online from one of the discount stores and drop a review up here once we’ve gotten our copies and had a chance to watch the flick, but it may be later than usual. We hear that the new anamorphic print is absolutely perfect, and that there’s a new introduction on the disc from Kevin, but that’s all we know as far as new material over the already seen Criterion laserdisc. We’re sure those of you who’ve yet to see the Criterion laser stuff will dig it, though. There’s a lot of great material on that disc, for sure.

Anyway, to sum it up, we suppose the disc will just quietly arrive next week. Sorry that we weren’t able to get better coverage on this for you, but we’re at the mercy of the studio and it looks like this time we’re just not going to get nice treatment (like the air expressed review copies Columbia/Tristar gave us when Dogma’s DVD was released). We’ll keep you posted as best we can on this one.
