• In a roundtable discussion with the press yesterday, Kevin revealed that Jay & Silent Bob did indeed film a cameo appearance for “Scream 3”. So, that settles the rumors…Unless, of course, they get cut from the film. No pun intended.
• We got lots of mail on this one today. The Onion, a parody website, ran an article titled “Jewish Anti-Deprecation League Protests New Woody Allen Movie” which seems like a parody on Dogma’s troubles with the Catholic League. At presstime, it’s on their front page. They’ve also added an interview with George Carlin.
• Here’s an interesting EBay item It’s a shirt that Matt Damon wore in Dogma (or a replica of such shirt.) The price is high on this sucker, but we’re not sure if this is a one-of-a-kind deal or just a copy. Bid carefully, and be sure to ask the seller for details.
• We hear that the Negley Avenue church in Pittsburgh that appears in a lot of the scenes in Dogma has been condemned by the city! So sad! The associated press in that area is currently working on a full story.
• Remember that flick we mentioned Salma Hayek might be involved in the other day? Well guess what? It looks like it may already be in the can! Check this out, courtesy of Cinescape.Com:

Sounds interesting, for sure. Salma, by the way, heads to Kosovo with the USO to visit troops from the 22nd-27th this month.

• A transcript of Kevin’s Politically Incorrect appearance should be available at ABC’s website later today. We’ve ALSO got a full transcript of that conversation from Hannity and Colmes – Turns out one of the guys was William Donohue himself! The transcript can be found in the articles section of Dogma RC.

• We’ve been receiving lots of mail praising Howard Shore’s score for Dogma, now available in record stores everywhere in soundtrack form (also with the infamous Mooby song as well as Alanis’s new track, “Still”). Vincent took a listen to the CD himself and was quick to point out that, surprisingly, some of the film’s score is actually MISSING from the disc. One of his favorite tracks, the music playing at the Mooby restaurant (which in the film plays distorted and ‘tinny’ since it’s coming from loudspeakers), and the music during the first Cardinal Glick scene (the organ music). There may be more, but we just wanted to make you aware — If you liked the score, you’ll hear even more of it this weekend, and hopefully perhaps even get a chance to hear the score isolated on Dogma’s DVD. By the way, sorry, but we don’t have the Mooby song lyrics. No lyrics were included with the Dogma CD soundtrack and they’ve yet to be published on the web.

• The BBC’s Film 99 show is having a poll on the best films of the Century (well, Millenium, but let’s face it, how many films can you namecheck pre-1900?), so we suggest all you British fanboys and girls out there place your vote. This IS limited to films that have been given a cinematic release, so this counts out Mallrats, which didn’t get a theatrical run in the UK, believe it or not. Clerks & Chasing Amy DID though, and we wonder if Dogma might be slipped in, too, considering it comes out 5 days before the new year! To vote, phone 0900 133 9919, or go to the website HERE to nominate your top 5 cinematic releases of the last “Millenium”. Not only would it help Kev to have his name out there in the UK, but it would also help stir up some publicity for Dogma. Results are put out on the last show of the series, and the website previously mentioned, on Tuesday December 7th.
• Another Universe’s Daily Buzz has some quotes from Kevin, AND a contest in which people can win tickets to see DOGMA by answering 3 trivia questions of a religious nature. This may be in yesterday’s buzz section by presstime, but shouldn’t be tough to find.

• Now THIS is how you put together a film festival! Check this out…To celebrate Dogma’s release, a theater in California is holding an all-night Kevin Smith Marathon on Saturday, November 20th. They’ve dubbed it The Jay and Silent Bob-Athon and will being giving out prizes to those who stay with each show. Clerks, Mallrats, and Chasing Amy will be shown in all of their 35MM print glory. Here’s the full details, don’t miss it!

• We got an e-mail concerning that “Employees” film we mentioned a while back. It’s the one that bears some striking resemblance to Kevin’s film. Anyway, they sent out another press release. We checked out the site and sure enough, they now have a movie poster which is very similar to that of a certain movie we all know and love. Check it out at Too Many Nicknames Productions and see for yourself! No idea what to make of this one.
• We mentioned this before, but a GREAT site to surf to for Dogma reviews (in addition to the ones we’ve collected over at Dogma RC) is Rotten Tomatoes. A reminder: While News Askew will not be posting any individual fan-written reviews on Dogma Rumor Control, we have now created a new topic over on our News Askew WWWBoard called “Dogma Reviews”. Feel free to post your own reviews of the film and discuss them there.
• IGN is holding a poll for suggested writers for the new “Hannibal” flick (Yes, the one that Jodie Foster just turned down.) Kevin is listed as one of the choices.
• “Tail Lights Fade” is seeing video release in yet another part of the world — The U.K.! The trade magazine “View” has the flick slated for rental video on November the 15th! No word on a stateside release of the flick yet, Malcolm Ingram‘s followup to “Drawing Flies” (Flies is still not on video, stop asking, please!).
• Dogma’s got a German release date and distributor! The industry newspaper “Blickpunkt Film”, a weekly cinema magazine, announces that Dogma is on schedule to open April 20th in Germany. The distributor will be Kinowelt. Now we’ve got Dogma confirmation for North America, the UK, Germany, and Australia (in summer 2000).
• Finally today, these are transcribed from the November issue of Alternative Press (page 80). One is an interview of Jason Lee where he mentions his first audition for Smith and the other is an overview of Dogma:

• 3 days to go! The anticipation is building…We’re really hoping that Dogma will be the flick that makes Kevin Smith a household name. Reviews and articles have continued to roll in – We’re seeing an overwhelming amount of positive reviews (unless you guys just aren’t sending any negative ones) as well as some really nifty articles. Today’s reviews come from Cinezine and Interview Askew‘s own Michael McCarthy, and the Denver Post. Salon.Com also had a TON of Dogma stuff added today, including an article about a guy who takes his Catholic grandmother to see Dogma and determine if it offends her! • On MTV’s The Hot Zone, Ananda Lewis hangs out with the cast of Dogma all week. Today she interviewed Kevin. It should repeat again tonight at 1:30am. In between the videos (whoa, MTV shows VIDEOS? Since when?) you can see a interview with Kevin plus a few scenes from the movie. Tomorrow Ananda hangs out with Linda Fiorentino.
• Ben Affleck hits Craig Kilborn’s Late Late Show on November 12th, this Friday. Jason Lee will be on the program next week, on November 18th.
• Kevin Smith will be on WNYC’s New York & Co., a daily talk/interview show, this Friday (11/12). You can find them at AM820 on the dial. They also archive and post all interviews on their website. It should be there by the end of the day Monday (11/15).
• Looks like we were wrong – Howard Stern WILL host Kevin again this soon, even though he WAS just on a month or two ago. This is GREAT news, because Howard reaches a TON of listeners nationwide, and is a big fan of Kevin’s, so this will be some fantastic promotion for Dogma. Right now, it’s scheduled for 9 AM this Wednesday, but MAY get bumped back to Friday’s show.
• Kevin & Chris Rock are scheduled for CBS’s Early Show this Wednesday, as well.
• Salma Hayek will be on NBC‘s “Later Today” tomorrow (Tuesday) to talk about Dogma. They showed clips of her strip scene in the promotions today.
• Kevin appears on Dr. Drew’s www.drdrew.com (of LoveLine fame) radio program this Friday.
• PlayTV, a video streaming website, plans to show new footage of a roundtable discussion with Kevin (as well as footage from the Red Bank screening) this Thursday, November 11th, on the Will Wilkins show. Will’s show airs at 10 PM PACIFIC. And check out this lineup: Shots of The Stash, Kevin’s addressing the Theatre 2 crowd before the showing, a 15 minute interview with Vincent Pereira, and one complete song sung by the lovely and talented Kim during her set. They stream out live via both Real Player and Microsoft Media Player.
