• Mostly radio stations having screenings this week, gearing up for the national Dogma release on Friday. Remember, we’re not listing the college screenings here, since that list remains on the official site. Here are the new ones:

• There will be a public screening in Seattle, coordinated by 107.7 KNDD “The End.” It happens Wednesday, the 10th at the Uptown Theatre on Queen Anne at 7:00 PM. Passes are at Car Toys in downtown Seattle on Denny Way. There were still some left at presstime.
• The radio station 101.5 KZON in Arizona is giving away Dogma tickets TONIGHT. The flick will screen this Wednesday.

• We realize that there hasn’t been a lot of variety in the news lately here, but hey, when you’ve got a new flick coming out in less than a week, this is what happens! Thus, today brings us more…you guessed it…press stuff on Dogma. We’ve thrown all of it over on RC for your reading pleasure. We can’t stress enough, folks: PLEASE check Dogma RC for articles and reviews before sending them in. We’ve had oodles of e-mails today on stuff that’s been on RC for a few days. Sorry for being so blunt about it, but we just can’t post all this stuff on News Askew directly. There’s too much! So, for the next couple of weeks, articles and reviews will definitely being appearing on the Dogma RC “articles and reviews” page exclusively. At least, that’s the plan.

Also, again we apologize to any of our friends who read this site and are receving late replies to e-mails. Nothing personal, we’re just a little bogged down at the moment. Please don’t take it personally.

Finally, Lions Gate wanted us to extend their thanks to all of you for your increased traffic to the site, for supporting the flick, and what we’re sure will be a great opening weekend. Keep in mind that opening weekend is really the most important one for a flick, since it usually determines the course the movie will take, so be sure and drop everything to see Dogma THIS WEEKEND, and encourage all your friends (heck, send your enemies too) to go and see it! If you’re visiting this page, of course, you’re probably gonna be first in line on Friday anyway, but we just thought we’d make sure. Sources are telling us that Dogma’s coming into theaters EVERYWHERE, so Lions Gate is doing a great job at making this a WIDE release, easily the widest ever for a View Askew film.

• We may have mentioned this in the past but just in case (there’s too darn many of these things): A Houston, Texas radio station, 107.5 “The Buzz”, is having a Dogma screening Tuesday the 9th. 7:30pm at Cineplex Odeon’s Spectrum theater. We assume the station has/had tix given out for the flick.
• There was a Dogma piece on Vancouver Television News Saturday evening. It had a segment of Kevin being interviewed as well as several clips from the movie. It focused mostly on the controversy, but really did put the film in a good light.
• Affleck‘s starting to do the promotions thang: Wednesday (11/10) the cable channel STARZ will have Ben Affleck on talking about DOGMA on thier show “One on One” at 7:30pm (check your local listings, though, that time comes from a west coast scooper). The dude’s also on the guest slate for Craig Kilborn next week.
• We heard that Kevin did indeed have to unfortunately miss appearing at Pittbsurgh’s screening on Friday — All we know is that there was a scheduling conflict and he had to miss it. We hear everyone enjoyed the flick, though, which is great.
• The weekly poll at www.juno.com is “What new movie do you most want to see…?”. Dogma is listed as an option, so go hit the poll and be counted!
• Film Four magazine has started to promote Dogma’s UK December 26th release. A print ad with their upcoming stuff was listed on the back of the last issue.
• Kevin will appear on the “Kevin and Bean” show on KROQ in LA, around 7 AM Wednesday PST.Here’s another chance to hear the dude do some radio (since he probably won’t do Stern again so soon). We’ll try and get a stream of the broadcast after it airs if someone provides it.

• Well, we hope you all had an enjoyable weekend. Thanks for stopping in with us on this, the final Sunday before Dogma hits theaters. I’m totally beat right now, and not feeling that talkative, so I’ll spare you the detailed intro and get right into the news. Just some newsbites from us today, but again be sure and check out RC for the latest Dogma press stuff. Here ya go:

• Just a correction that a few people wanted us to clarify: In that Entertainment Weekly poll, Kevin was named “Best Director of the Future”. Still an outstanding honor. Quite ironic that the word “future” is there, though, since we think his flicks are already among the very best, and Dogma puts him over halfway through his planned tenure in the filmmaking world.
• Ben Affleck & Matt Damon will appear on MTV’s clay gore fest Celebrity Deathmatch this Thursday, the 11th, just in time for Dogma. Let’s hope the guys don’t get beat up TOO badly.
• Jay & Silent Bob’s Secret Stash has hit the bigtime with an actual billboard in New Jersey! That’s right, coming down Rt. 35 South on the Middletown/Red Bank border, you’ll spot an ad along with the familiar circular Jay & Bob Stash logo, with the words “Yo, brown eye!” at the top. The billboard also includes directions to the place. Hopefully it’ll bring even more fans and customers into the place. The shop’s definitely worth the trip. We’re almost tempted to drive the 3 hours each month to get OUR comics. Almost.
• After a long hiatus, Affleck.Com is back online, and Ming’s even managed to get the entire Playboy interview with ‘ol Ben himself online. There ya go, now you guys & gals too embarrassed (or too young) to stroll up to the counter and buy the issue can get it at the site. Of course, now you don’t have an EXCUSE to buy the issue either, dagnabbit.
• Kevin’s first run may be over, but the latest issue of DareDevil shows the gang’s not forgotten. Their names all appear in graffiti on a wall, including “Jay+Bob” and “Kevin was here”.
• Dark Horizons posted a summary from a scooper who saw Kev’s Q&A in Atlanta the other week. Most of the stuff was old news or info that can be found in our own Summaries section — But Kev DID have this to say about some future projects:

• He only wants to do 10 films total and that he only has 3 ideas for future films currently so it might turn out to be only 7 films total that he directs. The one idea he revealed was an adaptation of Mage.
• Jay and Silent Bob will probably be in one more film and then they will only appear in the comics and the Clerks Animated Series.
• Vulgar may hit video sometime in 2000.

• Here’s yet another screening, this time in Cincinatti Ohio: You can catch Dogma on November 9th at the Esquire Theater, Nab your complimentary passes at Healing Earth Cafe in Clifton Heights. The screening will be at 7:30pm. Happy hunting.
• We’re starting to hear rumblings about planned peaceful protests outside of theaters where Dogma will be playing, at least in some of the more major cities. Get ready for some picket signs to read as you wait in line with your 7 bucks (or whatever ungodly fee they charge in your area these days).
• Dogma LATE In Australia: According to the marketing department for Village Roadshow, who will distribute Dogma in Australia, the film is not set to debut until June 2000 in the country. Sorry, mates…
• As always, hit Rumor Control today — We’ve got a couple new articles and reviews, including one from a PRIEST who dug the flick! Now THAT’S what we like to see!

• Some weeks really drag their feet as the days pass, but we were so busy this week that it flew by — It’s amazing that it’s Friday already (not that that’s a BAD thing, mind you) — And just think, one week from now you’ll all be gearing up to see Dogma!

Things seem to be slowing down a BIT as we head into the weekend, which is good, because we need a bit of a break. Luckily, we were able to keep up with the news this week so today’s not TOO overloaded. We’ve got a few more tidbits on screenings, appearances relating to Dogma, and a couple other random tidbits of interest:

• iF Magazine has a cool 3 part interview with Kevin that starts this Friday. It’s all part of their continuing DOGMA coverage (a 2-parter with Chris Rock’s on the way, too). We’ll have the full coverage for you right HERE.
• They’re baaaaaaaaaaaaack. This piece comes from the Hollywood Reporter (E! Online also summarized it):

• A small, but positive review appears in the new Marie Claire Magazine:

• Pittsburgh’s local NBC affilate, Channel 11, mentioned Dogma on the 6pm news last night. Just a brief piece mentioned that it was filmed there. They had a local film critic talk about it (he said it was good). Strangely, they also claimed that no footage had been released, so they only showed some poor black and white pictures (Matt and Ben in the airport). The flick plays the Pittsburgh Film Festival tomorrow and Pitt on Saturday.
• A quirky little site called HollywoodJesus.com has got its own Dogma page and – seemingly – the creators of the site are looking forward to the movie! More HERE.
• The new LA Weekly has a two page ad for Dogma; One page for the soundtrack and the other page containing a different poster image, like the version b at the official site, exept the characters are stacked in a pyramid and there are 4 reviews along side the cast, including a new one from the LA Weekly, which calls the movie “Sexy and hilarious. One of the years most exciting movies”.
• The Popcorn website has been keeping track of Dogma’s progress for its impending UK release. This short blurb also has links to some of their earlier coverage.
• There’s an interview in GQ Magazine with Kevin this month, though the title we heard led us to believe it’s the same piece as in George. Can anyone verify? If it’s new, please send us a transcript for posting!

• Big news! And wonderfully timed, too. In Entertainment Weekly‘s 100 Greatest Entertainers special issue, on newsstands tomorrow, Kevin was listed as the #1 Film Director! Congrats Kevin, it’s very much deserved due to the fantastic flicks you continue to turn out, as well as your dedication to the fans. Couldn’t have happened to a better guy. This should definitely have some heads turning towards Dogma, along with the A- review set for NEXT week’s EW.

• Screenings of Dogma took place in Dallas and Michigan last night, and excited fans have checked in with us — It’s unanimous, everyone LOVES the flick and can’t wait to go and see it again! Word is that crowds were quite diverse, and that laughter was so uproarious that it drowned out subsequent lines throughout the film. Again, as we stated above, we hope that when you see flick, you’ll surf over to our site’s WWWBoard and post your Dogma reviews for all to see.
